• Cooling: active model fan (especially for fine details and overhangs)

Specific settings may vary slightly depending on the printer, nozzle, and environment – we recommend starting in the middle of the recommended range and fine-tuning based on the results.

Suitability and limitations of PLA

Advantages of PLA:

• very easy printing
• high stiffness and hardness
• good dimensional stability
• low deformation during printing
• almost odorless during printing

Disadvantages of PLA:

• lower heat resistance – above approx. 60 °C the material may soften or deform
• higher brittleness compared to e.g., PETG or ABS
• not suitable for long-term outdoor use (UV and weathering)

Therefore, PLA is ideal mainly for visual, presentation, prototype, and non-stressed functional parts, not for mechanically or thermally extremely stressed components.
