Product description
Product Description
Prusament rPLA Wine Pigment is a premium PLA filament from Prusa Research's own production, utilizing 100% recycled PLA material and bio-pigment from red wine production waste. Without the addition of synthetic dyes, a unique bordeaux / wine shade is created, which may vary slightly between batches.
The filament is manufactured with extraordinary dimensional accuracy of ±0.03 mm, making it suitable for both detailed and large-scale prints. Mechanical properties are similar to standard PLA – the material is stiff, easy to print, but slightly more brittle and more hygroscopic.
This rPLA is ideal for:
- design home decorations (vases, flower pot covers, interior accessories)
- aesthetic models and prototypes, presentation mockups
- gift items and figurines with an original natural color
Thanks to the use of recycled PLA and natural pigments, the material has a lower ecological footprint than standard PLA filaments.
Key Features
- 100% recycled PLA base from industrial waste
- Natural wine pigment from a byproduct of red wine production
- No synthetic dyes – color is determined solely by bio-pigment
- High diameter precision: ±0.03 mm
- Very easy printing, suitable even for beginners
- Low warping, suitable for small and large models
- Pleasant, subtle shade with a slightly variable tone between batches
- More eco-friendly alternative to classic PLA
- Manufactured in-house by Prusa Research
Recommended Use
- Interior decorations and design accessories
- Aesthetic models, figurines, collectibles
- Presentation and conceptual prototypes
- Packaging, stands, organizers for office and home
Not recommended for parts exposed to higher temperatures (e.g., in a car in the sun) or where high impact strength is required.
Printing Settings (guideline)
- Nozzle temperature: 205 ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: 50 ± 10 °C
- Recommended surface: smooth / textured / satin PEI spring steel sheet
- Fan: 100 % (strong part cooling)
To achieve the best adhesion, keep the print surface clean (ideally cleaning with isopropyl alcohol) and ensure correct first layer calibration.
Material Properties
- Base: recycled PLA
- Pigment: grape bio-pigment (red wine production waste)
- Hardness / toughness: similar to PLA, rather more brittle
- Heat resistance: up to approx. ~59 °C (typical for PLA)
- Hygroscopicity: slightly increased – dry storage recommended
- Printing odor: noticeable but non-toxic, due to natural additives
Storage and Processing Tips
- Keep the spool dry, ideally in a resealable box with silica gel.
- When exposed to moisture for longer periods, the filament may degrade print quality – in such cases, we recommend drying in a filament dryer.
- For sanding, use wet sandpaper; dry sanding can cause local melting and clogging of the abrasive.
- Gluing is possible using most superglues; some PLA can also be glued with acetone, but results may vary by color and additives.
