Product description

Prusament PLA Jet Black 2kg – professional black PLA filament on a large spool

Prusament PLA Jet Black is a premium PLA filament developed and manufactured directly by Prusa Research. The 2kg spool variant is ideal for users who print a lot – it minimizes the need to change spools, reduces the risk of interrupted prints on long jobs, and is advantageous for series production of parts.

The black Jet Black shade offers a deep, uniform black color without visible color deviations, suitable for both design and functional models.

Main benefits and properties

  • Top‑tier quality from Prusa Research – fully in‑house production with full process control.
  • High diameter accuracy ±0,02 mm – stable material flow, fewer clogs, consistent layers.
  • Large 2kg spool – ideal for long/multi‑day prints, printer farms, and professional operations.
  • Easy printing even for beginners – PLA is one of the most convenient materials to set up and use.
  • Low risk of warping and deformation – suitable for large models and prototypes using the full build volume.
  • Excellent surface appearance – a satin‑gloss black surface with good detail visibility.
  • Low odor during printing – suitable even for less ventilated spaces (basic ventilation is still recommended).
  • Made from NatureWorks 4043D PLA resin – a proven and widely used type of PLA for FDM printing.

Recommended applications

Prusament PLA Jet Black 2kg is especially suitable for:

  • Design and presentation models
  • Prototypes and concepts (quick verification of shape and ergonomics)
  • Miniatures, figures, cosplay accessories
  • Models for architecture and product design
  • Decorations, stands, holders, organizers
  • Large‑format prints, where material stability and minimal deformation are required

It is not ideal for applications with long‑term exposure to higher temperatures above ~55–60 °C (e.g. in a car in the sun) and for parts that must be highly mechanically stressed, flexible, or resistant to UV and chemicals – for those, PETG or ASA is more suitable.

Print settings (approximate)

Specific profiles are available in PrusaSlicer; typical ranges are listed below:

  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 210–220 °C
  • Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
  • Print speed: medium to high (PLA allows faster printing than many engineering materials)
  • Cooling: 100% part cooling (fan)
  • Build plate: PEI, textured PEI, glass, or plates with an adhesive layer (tape, glue)

Before printing, we recommend:

  • thoroughly cleaning the print bed (isopropyl alcohol, according to the printer manufacturer’s recommendation),
  • checking the first layer height,
  • for a 2kg spool, ensuring a stable spool holder (for Prusa printers it is recommended to print a special holder for 2kg spools).

Technical parameters of PLA material (typical for Prusament PLA)

Parameter Value (approximate)
Material PLA (polylactic acid)
Filament diameter 1,75 mm
Diameter tolerance ±0,02 mm
Spool weight 2 kg of filament
Recommended nozzle temperature approx. 210–220 °C
Recommended bed temperature 50–60 °C
Heat resistance approx. up to 55 °C
Hardness / toughness medium, more brittle than PETG
Shrinkage during printing very low
UV and weather resistance low (not suitable for outdoor use)

Specific values may vary slightly depending on the batch; for precise technical data, we recommend consulting the manufacturer’s datasheet.

Compatibility

The filament is compatible with most FDM/FFF 3D printers that support PLA and a diameter of 1,75 mm, for example:

  • Original Prusa (MK3/S/+, MK4, MINI/+, XL etc.)
  • Creality (Ender series, CR series – with a suitable profile)
  • Anycubic, Artillery, Bambu Lab, Voron and many others

Always check that the printer supports PLA and a diameter of 1,75 mm.

Benefits of the 2kg spool for demanding users

  • Fewer spool changes – optimal for long, time‑consuming print jobs.
  • Reduced risk of running out of filament on multi‑day prints.
  • More stable operation for print farms and small‑batch production.

If you regularly print in black, this 2kg spool is both an economical and time‑efficient choice.

Safety and storage

  • Store in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Ideally keep the spool in a sealable box or bag with silica gel.
  • PLA is generally not suitable for repeated contact with food unless the surface is treated with a suitable certified coating.

By following basic handling and storage principles, you will get long‑term consistent results from Prusament PLA Jet Black 2kg and a reliable everyday material for your 3D printing.
