Product description

Product description

Prusament PLA Gravity Grey 1kg is a top‑class PLA filament developed and manufactured directly by Prusa Research / Prusa Polymers a.s. in the Czech Republic. Each batch is carefully inspected and the filament is produced with a precision of ±0.02 mm, which ensures high print reliability and minimal risk of nozzle clogging.

The color Gravity Grey is a muted, neutral medium‑light gray with a matte appearance – perfect for technical parts, design prototypes, functional components, and aesthetic models where you do not want a disturbingly bright color.

PLA is an ideal material for users looking for easy and trouble‑free printing with an excellent surface finish, sharp details, and low shrinkage. Thanks to this, it is also suitable for large‑volume prints, where minimizing warping is crucial.

Key features

  • Premium Prusament quality – fully manufactured in‑house at Prusa Research with strict quality control.
  • High dimensional accuracy: 1.75 mm diameter with a tolerance of ±0.02 mm for consistent feeding and stable results.
  • Easy printing – suitable for beginners and advanced users, does not require special conditions or an enclosed chamber.
  • Low shrinkage and warping – ideal for larger models and technical parts.
  • Matte gray Gravity Grey color – neutral, professional look, ideal for prototypes, enclosures, mounts, and functional parts.
  • Good surface detail – suitable for figurines, decorations, design models, and presentation prototypes.
  • No odor during printing – more comfortable operation in an office or at home.

Recommended applications

  • visual and functional prototypes
  • technical and structural parts, mounts, enclosures, jigs
  • decorations, models, miniatures
  • educational projects and school use

It is not recommended for parts exposed to long‑term higher temperatures (>60 °C) or intense outdoor UV radiation – in such cases, PETG is more suitable.

Printing parameters (recommended)

  • Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
  • Nozzle temperature: 210 ± 10 °C (typically 215–220 °C)
  • Bed temperature: 40–60 °C (recommended ~50–55 °C)
  • Print speed: up to approx. 200 mm/s (depending on printer and settings)
  • Cooling: part cooling fan 100 %
  • Recommended build plate surfaces: smooth / satin / lightly textured PEI, glass, tape with glue

Before printing, always ensure a clean bed surface (isopropyl alcohol, or according to the printer manufacturer’s recommendations).

Material properties

  • Material: PLA (polylactic acid)
  • Density: approx. 1,24 g/cm³
  • Heat resistance: up to approx. 55 °C (at a load of 0,45–1,8 MPa)
  • Tensile strength: ~57 MPa
  • Hardness: Shore D ~81
  • Shrinkage: very low
  • Odor during printing: minimal to none

PLA is a harder but more brittle material – when overloaded it tends to break rather than deform elastically.

Processing tips

  • Sanding: wet sanding is recommended – it reduces surface heating and clogging of the sandpaper.
  • Gluing: suitable are cyanoacrylate adhesives (super glues); some PLA can be partially etched with acetone, but this depends on the specific shade and additives.
  • Storage: keep in a dry place, ideally in a resealable bag/box with silica gel. If the filament absorbs moisture, it can be gently dried in a filament dryer or food dehydrator according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
