Product description
Prusa PLA+ MATT Magenta 1kg
Prusa PLA+ MATT Magenta is an advanced PLA+ filament with a matte surface, manufactured in the Czech Republic. It is designed to provide better mechanical properties than standard PLA, while maintaining its easy printability. Thanks to the rich MATT Magenta color and matte finish, it is ideal for aesthetically demanding prints, models, decorations, or prototypes.
PLA+ (polylactide) has compared to regular PLA:
- higher layer adhesion and impact resistance – prints are more flexible and durable under stress
- higher melt viscosity, which reduces the risk of nozzle clogging
- better behavior when printing in warmer environments due to lower printing temperatures and higher viscosity
- suitability for high-speed printing and for 3D pens due to lower melting temperatures
Material properties
- Material type: PLA+ (polylactic acid)
- Surface: matte
- Color: MATT Magenta
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm (manufacturing tolerance ±0,05 mm)
- Fill weight: 1 kg (on a spool; the manufacturer reserves a tolerance of approx. ±5% due to packaging)
- Country of origin: made in the Czech Republic
PLA is a very popular material for 3D printing. It is easy to print, has low warping, and due to the lower melting temperature, it is also suitable for printing fine details and small parts. PLA+ additionally adds better mechanical properties and more comfortable printing behavior.
Warning: Just like standard PLA, PLA+ has lower heat resistance – prints start to lose mechanical strength above approximately 60 °C. The material is also not ideal for long-term outdoor use due to lower UV resistance.
Recommended print settings
| Parameter | Recommended value |
|---|---|
| Nozzle temperature | 190–210 °C |
| Bed temperature | 50–60 °C |
| Recommended beds | Smooth PEI / Textured / Satin steel sheet |
Before printing, always clean the print surface according to the printer manufacturer's recommendations (isopropyl alcohol / suitable cleaner) to achieve optimal adhesion of the first layer.
Usage and tips for use
Ideal use:
- design models, figures and decorations
- prototypes and presentation models
- large prints with low risk of warping
- details and fine technical parts
Advantages of the matte surface:
- better hides small layer imperfections
- professional, non-reflective look
- suitable for photography and product presentation
Post-processing:
- wet sanding (with water) is recommended to prevent local overheating and surface smearing
- gluing with common plastic adhesives; chemical welding is limited for PLA
Safety and food contact:
- PLA itself is generally considered health-safe, but 3D prints can accumulate bacteria due to microscopic grooves
- for repeated food contact, we recommend using a suitable food-grade coating (food-grade lacquer/application coating)
Summary
Prusa PLA+ MATT Magenta is a great choice for users who want to combine the simplicity of PLA printing with the better mechanical properties of PLA+ while achieving an attractive MATT Magenta look.
