Product description
Prof. Lab PLA Carbon Fiber Gray 1 kg
Professional composite filament PLA + carbon fibers (CF) in Gray for demanding users who require higher stiffness, strength, and a matte technical appearance, while maintaining the printing comfort of standard PLA.
The Gray shade with carbon texture excellently masks layers, leaves a clean matte surface, and is suitable for both functional prototypes and final design parts.
Main advantages and applications
- Reinforced PLA with carbon fibers (~10% CF) – higher stiffness, strength, and stability of parts.
- Matte Gray surface – professional technical look, minimally visible layers.
- Easy printing like classic PLA – does not warp as much as technical plastics, suitable even for less experienced users.
- Low shrinkage and excellent dimensional accuracy – ideal for precisely fitting components.
- Suitable for technical and functional parts – brackets, jigs, covers, mechanical prototypes, RC parts, printer accessories.
- Eco-friendlier base – PLA is a bioplastic based on renewable raw materials.
Typical applications:
- structural and assembly jigs
- sensor, camera, and electronics mounts
- functional prototypes and smaller mechanical parts
- covers, frames, design accessories
- RC models, drones, cosplay elements with higher stiffness
Printing recommendations
According to parameters and recommendations for the Prof. Lab Carbon Fiber PLA series:
- Nozzle temperature: 190–220 °C (start around 200–205 °C and fine-tune based on results)
- Bed temperature: 60–70 °C
- Recommended printing speed: 30–70 mm/s
- Bed: glass, PEI, textured sheet, ideally with adhesive (3Dlac, glue stick, etc.)
- Cooling: medium to high (similar to high-quality PLA)
For best results, we recommend:
- using a more durable brass, hardened, or stainless steel nozzle – the filament is slightly abrasive due to carbon fibers,
- ensuring dryness – store in a closed container with a moisture absorber,
- printing in a well-ventilated room.
Compatibility
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm – compatible with most FDM/FFF 3D printers.
- Compatible with automatic filament exchange systems (AMS/CFS) if they accept standard spools (typical Prof. Lab spool: approx. Ø 195 mm, width ~57 mm, inner hole 73–75 mm – indicative based on other colors in the series).
Before use in closed multi-material systems, always verify the spool dimensions in your printer's specification.
Storage and filament care
- Keep in the original or resealable bag with a silica gel packet.
- Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
- During longer printing breaks, we recommend resealing the filament in a dry container.
Safety
- Print in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not touch hot parts of the printer (nozzle, bed) during and shortly after printing.
- Material is not intended for food contact or medical use.
Technical parameters
- Material: PLA (polylactic acid) + carbon fibers (CF)
- Carbon fiber content: approx. 10 % (derived from other Prof. Lab Carbon Fiber PLA colors)
- Color: Gray (matte, carbon texture)
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- Diameter tolerance: ±0,03 mm (typical for the Prof. Lab Carbon Fiber PLA series)
- Net weight of filament: 1 kg
- Estimated string length: approx. 330 m
- Spool type: plastic
- Spool dimensions (approximate): Ø ~195 mm, width ~57 mm, inner hole 73–75 mm
- Recommended printing temperature (nozzle): 190–220 °C
- Recommended bed temperature: 60–70 °C
- Recommended printing speed: 30–70 mm/s
- Shrinkage: low
- Print surface: matte, with light carbon texture
- Printer types: FDM/FFF
