Product description
Prof. Lab ASA Gray 1 kg – technical ASA filament for the exterior
Filament Prof. Lab ASA Gray 1 kg is a technical material based on ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate), developed for durable functional prints with a long lifespan, especially in demanding outdoor conditions. ASA is a popular alternative to ABS thanks to better UV stability, less yellowing, and higher resistance to weather.
The gray shade is universal for technical parts, prototypes, and final components – it masks dirt and fine surface imperfections well.
Main advantages of ASA material
- Excellent resistance to UV radiation – prints do not fade or yellow as quickly as those made of ABS
- High temperature resistance – suitable for parts exposed to higher temperatures (e.g., in a car, near windows, outdoors)
- Resistance to weather conditions – rain, wind, temperature changes, and solar radiation
- Good impact strength – suitable for mechanically stressed components
- Post-processing options – sanding, drilling, gluing, surface treatments similar to ABS
Recommended use
Filament Prof. Lab ASA Gray is particularly suitable for:
- functional parts in the exterior – covers, holders, brackets, garden accessories
- automotive – sensor holders, cable mounts, small plastic components in the interior and exterior
- technical prototypes and final parts that must withstand sun and heat
- sports and outdoor equipment, jigs, assembly aids
Printing recommendations
Specific values may vary depending on the type of printer, nozzle, and model geometry; generally, the following is proven for ASA:
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 245–265 °C
- Bed temperature: approx. 90–110 °C
- Cooling: low or off (0–30%), for larger parts preferably without a fan
- Printing speed: approx. 40–70 mm/s depending on settings and model size
- Printer chamber / enclosure: recommended – limits warping and layer cracking
- For better bed adhesion, use a brim / raft or a suitable adhesive agent (glue, special spray, PEI, etc.).
It is advisable to dry the filament before printing or store it in a dry place, as ASA can print poorly in higher humidity (bubbles, degraded surface).
ASA material properties
- Material type: ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate)
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- High UV and weather resistance
- Increased temperature resistance (compared to PLA/PETG)
- Good dimensional stability and strength
- Suitable for technical and functional parts
Safety and storage
Fumes are generated during ASA printing; it is recommended to print in a well-ventilated room or in a printer with a cover and filter. Store the filament in a dry place, ideally in a resealable bag with desiccant.
Summary
Prof. Lab ASA Gray 1 kg is a universal gray ASA filament suitable for users who need a reliable technical material for durable and aesthetic prints resistant to UV radiation, heat, and weather conditions. Thanks to the combination of mechanical strength, temperature resistance, and good printing properties, it is an ideal choice for functional prototypes and final parts for demanding environments.
Key features:
- Technical ASA filament for demanding functional and outdoor parts
- High resistance to UV radiation and weather conditions – suitable for the exterior
- Higher temperature resistance than PLA and PETG – usable in warmer environments
- Gray neutral shade suitable for technical and design parts
- Good dimensional stability and mechanical strength
- Compatible with most FDM/FFF 3D printers for 1.75 mm filament
