PLA Tuscan Orange / Orange PRINT-ME 1,75 mm 1 kg

PLA filament 1,75 mm is the most universal material for FDM printing technology, also suitable for printing large objects. Thanks to its simple properties, we recommend PLA to all beginners who are starting with 3D printing. Another big advantage is 100% ecological degradability, because PLA is made from renewable resources such as corn starch. PLA material is hard and durable like other plastics, however, it is not a material suitable for outdoor use, because in such a case it degrades and becomes brittle under UV light.

PLA surface treatment

The material is difficult to sand – during sanding (friction), heat is generated, which causes “pulling” of strands from the print. Therefore, when hand-sanding, it is recommended to cool the print, for example by sanding under water. For the same reason, it is also difficult to drill holes in the print (again a heating issue). It is suitable to first spray the material with a filler (putty used in modelling), then sand and varnish it, and repeat again and again until the material is completely smooth, and finally spray it with paint.

Gluing PLA

Cyanoacrylate (super glue) with an activator in a spray (sometimes the cyanoacrylate glue alone may be sufficient).

Recommended print settings for PLA

Commonly used nozzles are suitable. You can choose diameters according to the surface smoothness you want to achieve or according to the layer height setting during printing. Printing temperature: 210 °C. PLA filament requires a heated bed, but for better adhesion of the material it is recommended to heat it up to 55 °C. Furthermore, we do not recommend enclosing the printer in an enclosure for printing PLA filament; if you use one, leave it open. For a high-quality print surface, it is necessary to cool the plastic behind the nozzle as quickly as possible. We therefore recommend setting the part cooling fan on the printer to 100%.

We supply the filament vacuum-packed together with a desiccant and placed in a cardboard box. The plastic spools on which the filament is wound may differ in indentation or color. We strive to maintain 100% repeatability of winding and spool color.
