Product description
MABS is a copolymer sometimes referred to as “transparent ABS.” It has excellent optical properties (transparency). It is characterized by high impact resistance and good chemical resistance. It is used to print high-quality objects with a nice gloss. The material retains the properties of ABS.
- Printing temperature: 235-245 °C
- Heated bed temperature: 80-100 °C
- Good dimensional stability
- Good compromise between stiffness and mechanical strength
- Odorless
- Easy to process
- High impact resistance
- Transparency
- High gloss
MABS surface finishing
MABS sands well and, compared to PLA, does not exhibit issues with “string pulling” during friction. When hand sanding, there is no need to cool the part. MABS is also suitable for drilling holes without overheating issues. To achieve a smooth surface, you can use a filler that is sanded after application and then coated until the surface is completely smooth. Finally, the surface can be over-sprayed with paint.
Bonding MABS
MABS can be bonded using a special MABS adhesive available on the market. Cyanoacrylate glue with a spray activator can also be effective.
Recommended print settings for MABS
Commonly used nozzles are suitable. You can choose diameters according to the surface fineness you want to achieve or according to the layer height settings when printing. Printing temperature: 235 - 245 °C. MABS filament requires a heated bed; it is recommended to heat it to 80 - 100 °C. For MABS, it is beneficial to enclose the printer to maintain a constant temperature and prevent part warping. Compared to PLA, MABS requires less cooling; we recommend setting the part cooling fan on the printer to 50%.
We supply the filament vacuum-packed together with a desiccant and placed in a cardboard box. The plastic spools on which the filament is wound may differ in ribbing or color. We strive to maintain 100% repeatability of winding and spool color.
