Product description
GEMBIRD PETG gray 1kg – durable technical filament in elegant gray
The GEMBIRD gray 1kg PETG filament is a reliable choice for everyday functional printing and prototyping. It combines high strength, toughness, and chemical resistance with very good printability on the vast majority of FDM/FFF 3D printers.
The gray color gives your prints a professional technical look, hides minor imperfections, and is ideal for functional parts, covers, housings, and mechanical components.
Main advantages of GEMBIRD PETG material
- High strength and toughness – less brittle than PLA, better withstands impacts and mechanical stress.
- Excellent chemical resistance – PETG withstands common chemicals better than many other transparent plastics.
- Dimensional stability – accurate diameter of 1,75 ± 0,05 mm ensures smooth filament feed and consistent print quality.
- Lower brittleness compared to PLA – suitable for parts that must not break easily (mounts, holders, covers, functional components).
- Neutral gray color – ideal for technical models, prototypes, and industrial design; easy to paint or post‑process.
- More environmentally friendly choice – PETG is considered a 100% recyclable material.
Recommended applications
- Functional parts and mechanical components
- Technical and structural prototypes
- Electronics enclosures, housings, brackets, jigs
- Design and technical models in a neutral gray color
- Parts where higher strength, thermal and chemical resistance than PLA is required
Recommended printing parameters
Specific settings may vary depending on the printer, nozzle, and cooling. Treat them as starting values.
- Material: PET‑G
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- Nozzle temperature: 220–260 °C
- Bed temperature: 70–90 °C (on some printers PETG can handle even lower temperatures, min. ~60 °C)
- Recommended layer height: 0,1–0,3 mm
- Recommended print speed: approx. 30–60 mm/s
- Cooling: low to medium (approx. 30–50 %), depending on the model geometry
For better adhesion we recommend printing on:
- a glass bed with a suitable adhesive (glue, spray),
- a PEI sheet,
- a textured powder‑coated surface intended for PETG.
Storage and care of the filament
PETG is sensitive to moisture, so always store it in a dry place:
- keep the spool in a resealable bag with silica gel,
- protect the filament from direct sunlight and high temperatures,
- if it absorbs moisture, it is advisable to dry the filament before printing (approx. 60–65 °C for several hours).
Proper storage significantly improves the surface quality of the prints and reduces the likelihood of stringing and cracking.
Compatibility
The GEMBIRD PETG gray 1kg filament is designed for most desktop FDM/FFF 3D printers that support PETG material and 1,75 mm diameter – for example:
- Prusa, Creality, Anycubic, Artillery, Ender, BIQU, FLSUN, and other brands,
- open and closed printers with the ability to set nozzle temperature to at least 230 °C and a heated bed.
Summary
GEMBIRD PETG gray 1kg is an ideal filament for users looking for a durable, functional, and easy‑to‑print material in a universal gray color. Thanks to the combination of mechanical durability, chemical stability, and simple processing, it is suitable both for home hobby projects and for professional prototyping and production of smaller functional series.
