About ABS ESD
ABS ESD is a material filled with carbon nanofibers. This gives ABS ESD antistatic properties, which are particularly useful for printing various parts of electronic components prone to damage from electrostatic discharge.
ABS is a very strong and versatile material with excellent heat resistance – it withstands thermal deformation up to 98 °C. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. ABS contains an admixture of synthetic rubber, which makes it more resistant to wear and impacts. And last but not least, ABS filament is soluble in acetone!

Tips and tricks for beginners
Printing with an enclosed printer
Thermal contraction is where ABS really makes it difficult to print successfully, especially for larger parts. Even with the heated bed at 100 °C, your part can start to lift off the build plate and warp. We recommend addressing this by printing inside an enclosure with HEPA filtration (such as our Prusa Enclosure).
Acetone smoothing
ASA/ABS is acetone-soluble. This makes it easy not only to bond multiple parts together, but also to smooth prints using acetone vapors. You still need to be careful when handling acetone, but it is not as dangerous as, for example, PLA solvents.
