Product description
ABS filament 1.75 mm is another popular material for FDM printing technology, suitable for printing durable and demanding objects. ABS is more challenging to print, so we recommend it for more advanced 3D printing users. Its advantage is high durability and the ability to withstand more demanding conditions, including outdoor use, because ABS resists degradation under UV light.
ABS surface finishing
ABS can be sanded well and, compared to PLA, does not exhibit issues with stringing when rubbed. When hand sanding, it is not necessary to cool the part. ABS is also suitable for drilling holes without overheating issues. To achieve a smooth surface, you can use a filler that is sanded after application and then overpainted until the surface is completely smooth. Finally, the surface can be spray-painted.
Bonding ABS
ABS can be bonded using a special ABS adhesive available on the market. Cyanoacrylate (super glue) with an aerosol activator can also be effective.
Recommended settings for printing ABS
Commonly used nozzles are suitable. You can choose diameters according to the surface smoothness you want to achieve or according to the layer height settings during printing. Printing temperature: 230 - 250 °C. ABS filament requires a heated bed; it is recommended to heat it to 100 - 110 °C. For ABS, it is beneficial to enclose the printer to maintain a constant temperature in the printer and to prevent part warping. Compared to PLA, ABS requires less cooling; we recommend setting the part cooling fan on the printer to 50%.
The filament is supplied vacuum-packed with a desiccant and placed in a cardboard box. The plastic spools on which the filament is wound may differ in embossing or color. We strive to maintain 100% consistency of winding and spool color.
