ABS filament 1.75 mm is another popular material for FDM printing technology, suitable for printing durable and demanding objects. ABS is more challenging to print, so we recommend it for more advanced 3D printing users. Its advantages include high durability and the ability to withstand more demanding conditions, including outdoor use, as ABS resists degradation under UV light.

PLA surface finishing

ABS can be sanded well and, compared to PLA, does not exhibit issues with string pulling when rubbing. When hand sanding, there is no need to cool the part. ABS is also suitable for drilling holes without overheating issues. To achieve a smooth surface, you can use a filler that is sanded and varnished after application until the surface is completely smooth. Finally, the surface can be spray-painted.

PLA bonding

ABS can be bonded using a special ABS adhesive available on the market. Cyanoacrylate with a spray activator can also be effective.

Recommended print settings for PLA

Commonly used nozzles are suitable. You can choose diameters according to the surface smoothness you want to achieve or according to the layer height settings during printing. Printing temperature: 230 - 250 °C. ABS filament requires a heated bed; it is recommended to heat it to 100 - 110 °C. For ABS, it is advantageous to enclose the printer to maintain a constant temperature in the printer and to prevent part warping. Compared to PLA, ABS requires less cooling; we recommend setting the part cooling fan on the printer to 50%.

We supply the filament vacuum-packed together with a desiccant and placed in a cardboard box. The plastic spools on which the filament is wound may differ in indentation or color. We strive to maintain 100% repeatability of winding and spool color.
