Prusament Woodfill Chocolate Brown 1kg is a special PLA filament containing fine wood particles, developed and manufactured by Prusa Research. It combines the ease of printability of classic PLA with the natural look of wood in an elegant Chocolate Brown shade.

The material is based on a PLA matrix filled with wood dust derived from woodworking industry waste. Thanks to this, it is partially sustainable and has a pleasant, slightly woody scent during printing. The resulting prints have a matte, wood-like surface, and can be sanded, painted, and stained similar to real wood.

The filament is manufactured with typical Prusament precision and a tight diameter tolerance of ±0.04 mm, ensuring stable flow and reliable printing even for longer jobs.

Printer Requirements

• No special hotend needed – a standard 0.4 mm brass nozzle is sufficient

Note: Although it is possible to print with a standard 0.4mm nozzle, it is recommended to reduce printing speed compared to regular PLA (e.g., by 10–20%) and avoid too narrow channels or extremely fine details where wood particles could increase the risk of clogging.

Post-processing and Surface Treatment

• Sanding – wet sanding is suitable to prevent local overheating and surface smearing.
• Staining and Painting – thanks to the high wood content, the surface can be stained, painted, or waxed similar to real wood.
• Gluing – prints can be glued with common superglues or epoxy adhesives suitable for PLA.

Material Limitations

• Lower temperature resistance (similar to PLA – unsuitable for environments with higher temperatures, e.g., in a car in the sun)
• Higher brittleness compared to classic PLA – unsuitable for technical parts stressed by impacts or bending
• Stronger adhesion to smooth PEI sheet – a separation layer is recommended to avoid surface damage
