Product description
Prusament TPU 95A Jet Black 500 g (NFC)
Prusament TPU 95A Jet Black is a flexible filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research. It is an ether-based TPU with a Shore 95A hardness, offering a balanced combination of flexibility, strength, and printing reliability. Unlike many common TPU materials, Prusament TPU 95A prints very stably and with minimal stringing.
Main material properties
- Shore 95A hardness – soft in thin walls, strong and durable in thicker sections
- High resistance to abrasion and material fatigue – suitable for stressed functional parts
- Very low water absorption and high resistance to hydrolysis – less prone to moisture than common TPU
- High flexibility even at low temperatures (approx. down to -50 °C)
- Excellent chemical resistance against oils and greases
- Precisely controlled Prusament production – filament diameter with tolerance up to ±0.03–0.05 mm, inspection of every spool
- Integrated NFC chip on the spool for quick loading of information in the Prusa ecosystem
Typical use
Prusament TPU 95A Jet Black is ideal for:
- Protective and impact-resistant elements – bumpers, damping pads, stops
- Handles and grips – grips for tools, sports equipment, ergonomic handles
- Sharp edge covers and protectors – for example for skis, skates, or sports equipment
- Flexible couplings, seals, and O-rings
- Cable protection and grommets – high mechanical resistance and flexibility
- Tires and chassis parts for RC models
Thanks to its very low water absorption and excellent resistance to hydrolysis, it is also suitable for applications in demanding environments where common TPU degrades over time.
Printing recommendations
Recommended temperatures
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 230 °C ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: approx. 65 °C ± 10 °C
- Printer enclosure: not necessary
Recommended printing speeds
- TPU is generally suitable to print at lower speeds (rather slowly) for stable feeding and quality surface
- Prusament TPU 95A has above-average printing reliability compared to common TPUs, yet it is recommended to avoid extremely high speeds
Recommended print beds
- PA / Nylon surface – the most recommended surface for TPU
- Satin sheet – very suitable; for larger parts, a brim can be added and bed temperature slightly increased
- PP sheet or textured sheet – good adhesion, clean with IPA according to the manufacturer's recommendations
- Smooth PEI sheet – rather not recommended; a separation layer (glue stick) must be used, otherwise there is a risk of surface damage
Filament handling
- Due to very low water absorption, drying is usually not necessary
- In case of long-term exposure to a humid environment, the filament can be dried for approx. 4 hours at 60 °C
- Storage in a dry box or sealable container is recommended
