Product description
Product Description
Prusament PVB Light Yellow Transparent 500g (NFC) is a top-tier filament from Prusa Polymers designed mainly for design and visual models. The base material is polyvinyl butyral (PVB), which is characterized by translucency, easy chemical smoothing in IPA and low warping during printing.
The Light Yellow Transparent shade creates a pleasant, warm "glass" look, ideal for lamps, lampshades, vases, decorations, jewelry and prototypes of design parts. Combined with the right print settings and chemical smoothing, you will achieve a smooth, glossy surface resembling glass.
The spool contains 500 g of filament and is equipped with an NFC chip, which allows reading information about the material (e.g. color, type, residual length) on compatible devices.
Key Features
- Special PVB material – ideal for prints where appearance and translucency are important
- Chemically smoothable in IPA – possibility to obtain an almost glassy, smooth surface
- Translucent light yellow shade – works great in combination with backlighting and lighting effects
- Easy printing – printing properties similar to PLA, suitable even for less experienced users
- Low warping – suitable for larger models and decorative objects
- Good toughness and tensile strength – similar to CPE and PETG materials
- Excellent bed adhesion – reliable printing on common print sheets
- NFC spool – built-in NFC tag for intelligent work with filament (with compatible printers/software)
- Made in Prusa Polymers – strict control of diameter, color and mechanical properties of each spool
Recommended Use
Prusament PVB is particularly suitable for:
- Vases and carafes – translucency and the possibility of smoothing give the prints a look close to glass
- Lamps and lampshades – effective light diffusion, interesting light and shadow plays
- Jewelry and fashion accessories – detailed models with a smooth surface and attractive gloss
- Design prototypes and exhibition models – where aesthetic impression is important
- Decorations and props – film and stage props, cosplay parts, special effects
It is not intended for technical parts with high mechanical and thermal stress – thermal resistance is similar to PLA (up to approx. 60 °C).
Printing Recommendations
Recommended Settings (approximate)
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: 65–85 °C
- Print bed: smooth or satin PEI sheet
- Part cooling: 100 % fan, cooling is recommended
- Enclosure: not necessary
For maximum translucency effect and smooth surface:
- use a larger nozzle diameter (e.g. 0.6–0.8 mm),
- reduce the number of perimeters and infill (for vases use spiral vase mode),
- choose a larger layer height for better perimeter bonding and a more homogeneous wall.
Chemical Smoothing (IPA)
- Use isopropyl alcohol (IPA) with sufficient concentration according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
- Perform smoothing in a well-ventilated area and always using PPE (gloves, eye protection).
- Let the models dry thoroughly after smoothing before further use.
Storage
PVB is hygroscopic – it easily absorbs moisture from the environment. For best results:
- store the spool in a sealed bag or box with desiccant,
- in case of degraded surface quality, cracking or bubbles, dry the filament before printing according to recommended profiles.

Advantages and Limitations of PVB Material
Advantages
- PLA-like printing – easy profile setup, suitable even for beginners
- Translucency and aesthetics – unique look after smoothing and without it
- Low warping – suitable for larger decorative objects
- Good strength and toughness – comparable to CPE / PETG
Limitations
- Lower temperature resistance – not recommended for parts exposed to temperatures above 60 °C (car, outdoor sun, etc.)
- Worse interlayer adhesion than PLA – load direction of parts must be considered
- Hygroscopic material – requires more careful storage and potential drying before printing
Who is Prusament PVB Light Yellow suitable for
