Product description

Product Description

Prusament PP Glass Fiber Natural 850g (NFC) is a premium filament from Prusa Polymers based on polypropylene (PP) filled with glass fibers. It combines very low weight, superior mechanical strength, and high thermal and chemical resistance. Thanks to the glass fiber additive, the material has excellent dimensional stability and minimal tendency to warp, allowing the printing of even larger functional parts without the need for a fully enclosed chamber.

The base color is natural semi-translucent white (Natural) with a matte, slightly rough surface, which masks minor imperfections well and gives prints a professional technical look. An integrated NFC chip in the spool facilitates identification and correct material settings on compatible printers.

This filament is primarily intended for technical and functional applications, where high demands are placed on resistance to heat, chemicals, and mechanical stress.

Main Features and Benefits

  • High thermal resistance up to approx. 138 °C – suitable for parts exposed to higher temperatures (engine compartments, technical covers, brackets, etc.)
  • Excellent chemical resistance – resists many solvents, oils, non-oxidizing acids, and bases; ideal for laboratory and industrial use
  • Lightweight material – lower density than most common technical plastics, an advantage for drones, RC models, and lightweight structures
  • Great dimensional stabilityminimal warping, possibility of printing larger objects without an enclosed chamber
  • Matte, rougher surface – technical look, less visible layers, and minor imperfections
  • NFC chip in the spool – easy material identification and access to manufacturing data for each spool
  • Made in CZ, guaranteed tolerance ±0.04 mm – stable diameter, consistent printing results

Limitations and Requirements

  • Highly abrasive material – glass fibers quickly wear out brass nozzles
    • a hardened steel / toughened nozzle (eventually ruby, carbide) is recommended
  • Special printing surface – standard PEI sheets provide too low adhesion
    • ideal is a PP print sheet or PP tape / separation layer
  • Lower layer cohesion than pure PP – when designing parts, it is advisable to monitor layer orientation relative to the load
  • Slight odor during printing – a well-ventilated environment or partially enclosed printer is recommended

Recommended Use

Prusament PP Glass Fiber is intended especially for:

  • Automotive and Industry
    • technical brackets and covers
    • parts exposed to heat and chemicals
    • spare and auxiliary tools in production
  • Laboratory Equipment
    • test tube racks, pipette racks
    • bottle holders, chemically resistant containers, and tools
  • Aerospace, Drones, and RC Models
    • lightweight structural parts, arms, electronics holders
  • Functional Parts in the Workshop and Home
    • chemically resistant containers, grips, holders
    • components exposed to higher temperatures (e.g., around engines, heating, etc.)

This material is suitable for more advanced users who already have experience with hardened nozzles, special printing surfaces, and technical materials.

Printing Settings (Guidelines)

Parameters according to the manufacturer:

  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 245 ± 10 °C
  • Bed temperature: approx. 95 ± 10 °C
  • Recommended printing surface:
    • PP print sheet (special PP sheet from Prusa)
    • eventually smooth PEI sheet with PP tape / separation layer
  • Chamber: not necessary, but an enclosed printer can improve layer cohesion and reduce particle emissions
  • Nozzle: hardened/durable, due to the high abrasiveness of glass fibers
  • Filament dryness: drying is usually not necessary, the material is less hygroscopic

Specific profiles and settings may vary slightly depending on the printer and slicer. We recommend trying the recommended profiles for Prusament PP-GF and then fine-tuning them according to your printer's behavior.

Filament Technical Parameters

  • Material: Polypropylene (PP) filled with glass fibers
  • Filament diameter: 1.75 mm ± 0.04 mm
  • Filament weight on spool: 850 g
  • Color: Natural (natural, semi-translucent white)
  • Print surface: rougher, matte
  • Thermal resistance: up to approximately 138 °C
  • Chemical resistance: very good against a range of chemicals (oils, solvents, non-oxidizing acids, and bases)
  • Manufacturing dimensional accuracy: ± 0.04 mm
  • Manufacturer: Prusa Polymers a.s., Czech Republic
  • Spool: plastic spool with NFC chip

Tips for Successful Printing

  1. Use a hardened nozzle Glass fibers are very abrasive – long-term printing with a brass nozzle will lead to its rapid wear and deterioration of print quality.
  2. Correct printing surface PP and PP-GF have low adhesion to common PEI sheets. Ideal is a special PP sheet or using PP tape as a separation layer.
  3. Part design with regard to layers Fiber-filled materials have lower cohesion between layers than pure polymers. For stressed parts, choose the model orientation so that the greatest forces do not act perpendicular to the layers.
  4. Good ventilation / partial enclosure Fine particles and a slight odor may be released during printing. Print in a well-ventilated room, or consider a filtration system.

Who is Prusament PP Glass Fiber suitable for

  • Advanced hobby users looking for a durable technical filament for practical functional parts
