Prusament PLA Prusa Galaxy Black 900g Refill (NFC Compatible) is a premium PLA filament from Prusa Research in an eco-friendly refill variant. The filament is wound on a paper core, onto which you simply mount the plastic side plates from an empty original Prusament spool – this way you get a full-featured smart spool with NFC while also reducing the amount of plastic waste.

The shade Prusa Galaxy Black is characterized by a deep black color with fine glitter that perfectly masks layers and minor print imperfections. The surface of the prints looks luxurious and is very popular for design elements, functional parts for interiors, figurines, and presentation models.

Printing recommendations

Recommended print settings (PLA)

• Nozzle temperature: approx. 205–225 °C (follow the Prusament PLA profile for the specific printer)
• Bed temperature: approx. 50–60 °C
• Print speed: typically 40–60 mm/s (depending on model complexity)
• Fan: 100% after the first layers for sharp details and bridges

Before printing always:

• thoroughly clean the print surface (lukewarm water + detergent, then IPA as recommended by the printer manufacturer)
• check the first layer and the correct distance of the nozzle from the bed

For consistent results, it is advisable to store filament in a dry environment; slightly higher printing temperatures may be required for well‑dried PLA.

Material properties

PLA (polylactic acid polymers) is a hard, rigid, and dimensionally stable material with minimal warping. It is excellent for precise parts, prototypes, and decorative objects.

Advantages of PLA:

• easy to print and set up
• low or no warping
• very good detail reproduction
• suited for most non-functional or lightly loaded parts

Disadvantages of PLA:

• lower heat resistance – not suitable for parts exposed to high temperatures (e.g. in a car in the sun)
• more brittle character – less suitable for parts subjected to impact or bending

Compatibility

The filament is intended for all common FDM/FFF 3D printers using PLA:

• fully compatible with Original Prusa printers (e.g. MINI, MK3, MK4, XL)
• usable on printers of other brands with a nozzle suitable for PLA and a spool holder for 1,75 mm filament

The refill concept requires an original Prusament spool – the plastic side plates from the original spool snap onto the cardboard refill core.
