Prusament PLA Prusa Galaxy Black 1kg (NFC) is a top-quality PLA filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research. It combines maximum print reliability, high diameter accuracy ±0,02 mm and the iconic color Prusa Galaxy Black – deep black with sparkling particles that give models a professional appearance.
The new generation of spools is equipped with an NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard, which allows:
- fast material recognition by a compatible printer or application,
- storage of key parameters directly in the tag (works fully offline),
- more convenient filament management in multi-material and multi-color systems.
The focus on manufacturing quality ensures consistency of color, diameter and mechanical properties. Each spool is individually inspected and tracked throughout the entire production process.

Not suitable for parts exposed to high temperatures for long periods (e.g. in a car in direct sunlight) or to intense mechanical stress.
Printing settings (guideline)
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C
- Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
- Recommended surface: smooth PEI, textured PEI or satin sheet
Specific values may vary depending on the printer and conditions; it is recommended to start from the Prusament PLA profile and then fine-tune if needed.
Tips for working with PLA
Sanding
For PLA, wet sanding is recommended. Without water, the plastic heats up quickly due to friction, can melt and deform locally, and the abrasive gets clogged easily.
Gluing
PLA can be glued using commonly available adhesives – most often cyanoacrylate (CA) superglue is used. With some PLA blends, bonding with acetone may also work; however, it depends on the specific additives and color.
