Recommended use

PLA is ideal wherever high thermal or mechanical resistance is not required:

Printing settings (approximate)

• Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
• Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C (Prusa recommendation for PLA)
• Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
• Recommended surface: smooth / textured / satin PEI sheet or other PLA‑suitable surfaces
• Part cooling: 100 % – strong airflow for the best details

By using preset Prusament PLA profiles in PrusaSlicer or other slicers you will quickly achieve excellent results.

Mechanical and material properties of PLA

• Hard but more brittle material – when overloaded it tends to break rather than deform
• Heat resistance: approximately up to 55–60 °C (above this temperature it loses strength)
• Low shrinkage during printing – minimal risk of deformation even with larger parts
• No significant odor during printing

Post‑processing

• Sanding: wet sanding is recommended to avoid local overheating and smearing of the surface
• Gluing: cyanoacrylate (CA) superglue is suitable, as well as other common plastic adhesives
• Surface finishing: painting or coating is possible to achieve a smoother surface or increase durability.

Packaging and spool

• Filament weight: min. 1000 g (Prusa normally winds slightly over 1 kg)
• Total weight with spool: approx. 1,3 kg
• Wound on a more eco‑friendly spool with a cardboard core to reduce plastic consumption
• Vacuum‑packed with a silica gel bag for moisture protection

Safety and tips

• PLA is generally considered a “less problematic” material, but always print in a well‑ventilated area.
• The material itself can be food‑safe, but due to micro‑cracks in the surface of the print, long‑term contact with food is not recommended unless the part is coated with a suitable food‑grade coating.
