Prusament PLA Opal Green is a high-quality PLA filament manufactured directly at Prusa Research. Thanks to strict production control with an accuracy of ±0,02 mm it delivers excellent repeatability and a smooth surface finish of prints. The elegant opal green color is ideal for decorative models, figurines, prototypes and even large prints.

The integrated NFC chip in the spool allows compatible Original Prusa printers (e.g. MK4/XL series) to automatically recognize the material type and makes it easier to set the correct print parameters.

Recommended print settings

Specific values may vary slightly depending on the printer and environment.

• Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C
• Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
• Print speed: medium to higher (PLA tolerates higher speeds than many other materials)
• Cooling: 100 % (strong cooling for sharp details)
• Build plate: PEI (smooth or textured), or glass with suitable adhesive

Before printing we recommend thoroughly degreasing the bed (e.g. with isopropyl alcohol) according to Prusa Research recommendations.

PLA material properties

• Easy to print – suitable for beginners and advanced users alike
• Low deformation (warping) – ideal for larger models
• Hard but more brittle – under stress it tends to crack rather than bend
• Lower heat resistance – loss of strength at approximately above 55–60 °C, not suitable for a hot car or outdoors in direct sunlight
• Low UV resistance – recommended mainly for indoor use

PLA is an ideal material for visual models, non-load-bearing parts and decorations where appearance, accuracy and ease of printing are important.

Post-processing and gluing

• Sanding: wet sanding is recommended – without water local heating occurs, the surface smears and the abrasive gets clogged.
• Gluing: PLA can be glued with a range of adhesives – most often with cyanoacrylate (super glue). Some PLA blends can be partially welded with acetone, but it depends on the specific shade and additives.

Safety and storage

• Store in a dry place, ideally in a resealable bag or box with silica gel.
• Protect from high temperatures and direct sunlight.
• Ensure basic room ventilation during printing.
