Product description

Prusament PLA Opal Green 1kg – premium PLA filament from Prusa Research

Prusament PLA Opal Green is a premium PLA filament from the in-house production of Prusa Research. Every batch is carefully monitored, resulting in excellent dimensional accuracy (±0.02 mm), consistent color, and reliable printing even on long jobs. The opal green shade gives your prints an elegant, subtly effect-rich look, which stands out on decorations, models, and design prototypes.

Who Prusament PLA Opal Green is ideal for

  • Beginners – very easy to print, low risk of warping and detaching from the print sheet.
  • Advanced users and professionals – stable quality for long print jobs and detailed models.
  • Designers and model makers – attractive opal green color for decorations, figurines, jewelry, enclosures, and presentation prototypes.

Key features and benefits

  • Top precision ±0.02 mm – consistent filament diameter ensures even material extrusion and smooth model walls.
  • Easy printing – PLA is one of the easiest materials to print, does not require an enclosed chamber, and has minimal shrinkage.
  • Opal green shade – elegant, rich green with an opal tint suitable for decorative and presentation prints.
  • High surface quality – suitable for detailed models, miniatures, and mock-ups.
  • Low deformation (warping) – suitable even for larger objects; PLA has low thermal expansion.
  • In-house production by Prusa Research – full quality control from pellets to finished spool and the option to verify the parameters of a specific spool on the Prusament website.

Recommended applications

  • Decorations and design objects – vases, statues, interior accessories in an opal green shade.
  • Presentations and prototypes – product models, enclosures, promo gifts.
  • Miniatures and figurines – model making, tabletop games, cosplay accessories.
  • Education – school projects, demonstration models, teaching aids.

PLA is generally suitable for concepts, prototypes, and low-stress parts, where high heat resistance or mechanical load is not required.

Printing settings (approximate)

Parameter Recommended value*
Nozzle temperature 210–220 °C (typically 215 °C)
Bed temperature 50–60 °C
Part cooling fan 100 %
Recommended bed surface PEI smooth / textured / satin
Recommended layer height 0.10–0.30 mm

*Specific values may vary depending on the printer type and slicer profile.

Tips for printing and post-processing

  • Bed preparation – keep the print surface clean according to the Prusa handbook recommendations (isopropyl alcohol, or gentle washing).
  • Sanding – sand PLA wet; without water, local overheating and softening of the plastic occurs, which makes final surface finishing more difficult.
  • Gluing – for most joints, cyanoacrylate (super glue) is suitable. Some PLA can also be glued with acetone, but this depends on the specific color and additives.

Limitations of PLA material

  • Lower heat resistance – parts start to lose mechanical strength at around 60 °C, therefore PLA is not suitable for components exposed to higher temperatures (e.g. in a car in direct sunlight).
  • Lower UV resistance – long-term outdoor use is not recommended.
  • Rather brittle material – when overloaded, it tends to crack; it is not suitable for highly stressed mechanical parts.
