Prusament PLA Natural 1kg (NFC)

Prusament PLA Natural is a high-quality PLA filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research. The with NFC variant is wound on a new smart spool with the OpenPrintTag standard, which allows for easy loading of filament parameters and its correct setting on compatible 3D printers.

The "Natural" shade is slightly translucent, without added pigments, ideal for conceptual models, technical prototypes, functional samples, and decorations.

Material properties of PLA

PLA (polylactide) is a hard, relatively brittle material with low thermal expansion and minimal warping. This makes it a great choice for large prints without deformation. On the other hand, PLA has lower temperature resistance – mechanical properties start to drop significantly above approximately 55–60 °C, so it is not suitable for parts exposed to high temperatures (e.g., in a car in the sun) or long-term outdoor use.

Recommended print settings

For ideal results, the manufacturer recommends the following parameters:

  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C
  • Heated bed temperature: 50–60 °C
  • Recommended print sheets:
    • smooth PEI sheet
    • textured (powder-coated) PEI sheet
    • satin PEI sheet

Before printing, it is necessary to:

  • ensure a clean bed surface (degrease according to the manufacturer's recommendations),
  • correctly set the first layer height,
  • optionally use a suitable adhesive or separation agent depending on the surface type.

Tips for processing PLA

  • Sanding: wet sanding is ideal. Without water, PLA easily heats up locally during sanding, melts and deforms the surface, and the abrasive clogs quickly.
  • Gluing: PLA can be commonly glued with superglue (CA glue) or other universal adhesives. With some PLA blends, bonding using acetone is also possible, but it depends on additives and colorants.
  • Safety and food: although pure PLA is relatively safe material-wise, it is not recommended to use prints for long-term direct contact with food or drinks due to micro-cracks where dirt and bacteria can settle.
