Premium PLA filament Prusament Jet Black from Prusa Research / Prusa Polymers is designed for reliable and precise 3D printing on most FDM/FFF printers. The Jet Black variant offers a truly deep, richly black color without visible color deviations, making prints elegant and representative.

The integrated NFC chip (OpenPrintTag) in the spool makes it easier to identify the material and its parameters with compatible devices – quick reading of material type, color or remaining filament length helps streamline work and minimize printing errors.

Thanks to its low shrinkage, Prusament PLA Jet Black is also very suitable for larger prints, which tend to warp or detach from the print sheet when made from other materials.

PLA material properties

• Low temperature resistance – it is recommended for indoor use and not to expose it long term to temperatures above approx. 55–60 °C.
• Hard but more brittle material – high stiffness but lower toughness (it may break with a more brittle fracture).
• Easy to process – odorless printing without the need for an enclosed chamber.

For sanding, wet sanding is recommended – PLA tends to heat up from friction during dry sanding, soften and clog the sandpaper.

Post‑processing and gluing

• Sanding: wet sanding with finer grits is recommended.
• Gluing: cyanoacrylate (super) glues are particularly suitable; some PLA can also be chemically bonded, but this depends on the specific color and additives.

Compatibility

Prusament PLA Jet Black is compatible with:

• Original Original Prusa printers (MK series, MINI, etc.)
• most FDM/FFF 3D printers that support PLA and 1,75 mm filament diameter

Just use a profile for Prusament PLA or a generic high-quality PLA profile in your preferred slicer (e.g. PrusaSlicer, Cura, etc.).
