Prusament PLA Gentleman's Grey 1kg (NFC) is a premium PLA filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research. The elegant gray-graphite shade Gentleman's Grey gives your prints a professional, "technical" look, whether you are printing functional prototypes, design models, or miniatures.

Prusament PLA is known for its extraordinary dimensional accuracy of ±0.02 mm and very consistent color throughout the entire spool. Each batch is carefully inspected, and you can check the parameters of a specific spool via the QR code on the label.

Thanks to the new generation of spools from October 2025, this product is equipped with an NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag open standard. Your printer (or the Prusa mobile app) can instantly read key material information from the spool – completely offline, without dependence on the cloud.

Usage and Suitable Applications

This filament is particularly suitable for:

  • functional and design prototypes (engineering parts, covers, holders, jigs in non-demanding conditions),
  • conceptual models and mockups (architectural models, product design),
  • miniatures, models, and figurines with high surface detail,
  • educational aids and demonstration models for schools and 3D printing clubs,
  • decorations and interior accessories that are not exposed to high temperatures or UV radiation.

It is not ideal for parts:

  • exposed to temperatures above approx. 55–60 °C (e.g., inside a car in the sun),
  • placed outdoors long-term (lower UV and temperature resistance of PLA).

Recommended printing parameters according to the manufacturer:

PLA generally allows for higher printing speeds and does not require an enclosed chamber. For best results, we recommend turning on full print cooling and printing in a draft-free environment.


NFC and OpenPrintTag

The new generation of Prusament spools is equipped with a rewritable NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard:

  • contains key material information (type, color, recommended temperatures, other metadata),
  • data is stored directly in the tag – works completely offline,
  • compatible across brands and ecosystems,
  • can be read, e.g., by the Prusa mobile app and supported 3D printers,
  • open standard – no vendor lock-in or licensing fees.

As a result, you always have an overview of which material is loaded on the printer, and profile selection can be easily automated in supported software and devices.


Tips for Printing and Post-processing

  • First layer: Keep the bed clean (isopropyl alcohol on PEI) and ensure correct first layer height.
  • Cooling: PLA loves strong cooling – using high power from the part-cooling fan will improve details and bridging.
  • Sanding: Use wet sanding for PLA – without water, the plastic quickly overheats due to friction, softens, and deforms.
  • Gluing: PLA parts can be glued using super glue (CA). For very strong bonds, special plastic glues can also be used.
