Prusament PLA Galaxy Purple 1kg

PLA has a relatively low melting temperature of 175 degrees Celsius. Unlike so-called thermosets, PLA can be repeatedly heated above its melting temperature with very little material degradation. It is also a very hard, but therefore also brittle material, and once it breaks, it often shatters. Like any other material, PLA also has several weaknesses. A side effect of the low melting temperature is low heat resistance; prints start to lose mechanical strength already at temperatures above 60 °C. The combination of low UV resistance and low heat resistance means that PLA prints are not ideal for outdoor use. PLA is soluble only in chemicals such as chloroform or hot benzene. Therefore, it is better to use glue for joining several prints together. Although PLA is a material that is safe for contact with food, we do not recommend repeatedly drinking or eating from your 3D prints. Bacteria can accumulate over time in the small cracks in the surface that are created during printing. When finishing PLA surfaces, it is better to use wet sanding. Without water, the plastic can quickly heat up due to friction, partially melt, and thus make further sanding more difficult.

This PLA was manufactured directly by us at Prusa Research. This 1.75 mm filament was manufactured with a precision of ± 0.02 mm (± 0,03 mm for blends)
