Prusament PLA Galaxy Green 1kg (NFC) is a top-quality PLA filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research. It combines a deep dark green color with a fine gold “galaxy” sparkle, so prints look luxurious and impressive even without additional surface finishing.

Prusament is wound and inspected in the in-house production of Prusa Polymers. Each spool has a guaranteed diameter accuracy of ±0,02 mm and detailed quality control – the parameters of a specific spool can be checked by scanning the QR code on prusament.com. The filament is wound on a newly designed spool with an NFC tag of the OpenPrintTag standard, which simplifies material identification and print profile setup.

Galaxy Green is one of the so‑called “galaxy” colors – the dark base complemented with glitter suppresses the visibility of layers and small imperfections, making it ideal for decorations, figurines, cosplay parts, and design as well as presentation models.

PLA is suitable mainly for indoor use, concepts, and prototypes where high heat resistance is not required.

Print settings (recommendations)

Typical recommendations for Prusament PLA (they may slightly differ depending on printer and conditions):

• Nozzle temperature: approx. 210–220 °C
• Bed temperature: approx. 50–60 °C
• Fan: 100 % (strong part cooling)
• Layer height: typically 0,15–0,20 mm (finer layers enhance details and the sparkle)
• Print speed: medium to higher; PLA allows faster printing than PETG

For best adhesion, we recommend a clean PEI print sheet (smooth or lightly textured), cleaned according to Prusa’s recommendations (not only IPA, but occasionally also washing with dish soap and water).

PLA material properties

• Easy to print – suitable as a first filament for beginners
• Low warping – also suitable for larger models
• Good hardness and stiffness, but also higher brittleness (it may break without significant deformation)
• Lower heat resistance – loss of mechanical properties at approximately above 55–60 °C
• Not suitable for long-term outdoor use (lower UV and heat resistance)

PLA is ideal for concepts, models, decorations, miniatures, figurines, jewelry, prototypes, and low-wear parts.

Ecology and spool

The new generation of Prusament spools emphasizes practicality and sustainability:

• Redesigned spool with a lock – easy disassembly, replacement, or refilling of filament
• Stable during drying – remains firmly secured even at higher temperatures in a dryer
• Slender profile – better compatibility with multi-material and multi-color printing systems
• Integrated NFC tag (OpenPrintTag) directly on the spool

Safety and post-processing

• Sanding: wet sanding is recommended; otherwise local melting and clogging of the abrasive occur
• Gluing: cyanoacrylate (super glue) is suitable; in some cases, chemical bonding can also be used depending on the specific color and composition
• Food contact: PLA material itself is generally considered relatively safe, but due to the layer structure and possible bacterial buildup, repeated direct contact with food is not recommended without suitable surface treatment
