Product description
Product Description
Prusament PLA Blend Royal Blue 1kg (NFC) is a high-quality PLA filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research / Prusa Polymers. The Blend series uses fine pigments that create a deep royal blue color with a slightly pearlescent, luxurious appearance. The filament is wound on a transparent spool with an integrated NFC chip, which facilitates material management on compatible printers.
PLA is a great choice for beginners and advanced users thanks to its very easy printing. It features minimal shrinkage, making it suitable for larger prints without deformation. At the same time, it allows for printing detailed miniatures, figurines, and design models that do not require increased thermal or mechanical resistance.
Main Advantages
- Premium PLA filament from Prusa Research's own production – consistent quality throughout the batch
- Blend pigmentation in Royal Blue shade – rich royal blue with a subtle pearlescent effect
- Integrated NFC chip in the spool – quick material identification on supported Original Prusa printers
- Excellent dimensional accuracy – 1.75 mm diameter with a tolerance typically ±0.02–0.03 mm for the Blend series
- Minimal warping (low warping) – suitable for bulky parts and utilizing the entire printer surface
- Easy printing – ideal for beginners, does not require an enclosed chamber
- Smooth surface and sharp details – suitable for exposed design and presentation prototypes
- Czech production – the filament is manufactured in the Czech Republic (Prusa Polymers a.s.)
Suitable Use
- design models and representative prototypes
- figurines, miniatures, decorations, interior accessories
- concepts and visual models without high demands on temperature resistance
- larger prints where minimal warping and flat surfaces are key
- school projects, hobby modeling, demo prints for 3D printing presentations
\nNot recommended for applications in environments above approx. 55–60 °C, mechanically highly stressed parts, or outdoor use with long-term exposure to sun and UV radiation.
Recommended Print Settings
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Nozzle temperature | 210–215 °C |
| Heatbed temperature | 50–60 °C |
| Print speed | normally 40–80 mm/s, higher possible depending on the printer |
| Cooling | 100 % model cooling |
| Recommended print surfaces | smooth PEI, textured PEI, satin PEI |
Before printing, it is recommended to thoroughly clean the print surface (isopropyl alcohol / depending on the bed type) for perfect first layer adhesion.
PLA Material Properties
- Material type: PLA (polylactic acid)
- Melting point: approx. 175 °C
- Temperature resistance: approximately up to 55–60 °C (loses strength above this temperature)
- Hard but more brittle material – tends to break when overloaded
- Very low shrinkage – ideal for precise and large parts without deformation
- No significant odor during printing
PLA is popular mainly due to its ease of use and nice surface appearance. However, it is not suitable for functional parts requiring high toughness, flexibility, or long-term resistance to heat and weather conditions.
Recommended Gluing and Surface Finishing Options
- gluing with standard cyanoacrylate adhesives (CA) or epoxy
- sanding ideally wet to avoid local overheating and surface deformation
- can be filled and then painted for a perfectly smooth, representative surface
