Product description
Product description
Prusament PLA Blend Oh My Gold 1kg (NFC) is a top-quality PLA filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research. It is a special "blend" mixture with a metallic / pearlescent effect in a shade of luxurious gold, which is ideal for aesthetic and representative prints. The filament is wound on the new Prusament spool with an NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard, which allows the printer or mobile app to read information about the material directly from the chip.
PLA is the most widespread material for FDM 3D printing thanks to its very easy printability, low shrinkage and excellent surface appearance. This Oh My Gold variant is especially suitable for models where you want to achieve a distinctive, “premium” look – awards and trophies, statues, chess pieces, decorations, product packaging, logos or design prototypes.
Key features
- Premium PLA blend in the Oh My Gold shade – attractive gold color with a pearlescent / metallic effect
- Integrated NFC tag (OpenPrintTag) – the printer recognizes the material and loads the parameters directly from the spool
- High diameter accuracy – 1,75 mm with a tolerance of ±0,03 mm for blends
- Easy printing – minimal warping, high dimensional accuracy, suitable even for beginners
- Suitable for small and large prints – low thermal expansion, good shape stability
- Hard but more brittle material – sharp details, less suitable for mechanically stressed parts
- Clean and consistent manufacturing – in-house filament extrusion at Prusa Research / Prusa Polymers
- Spool prepared for multimaterial – thinner spool profile, easier to use in MMU and multicolor systems
Typical applications
- Designer and decorative models – statues, busts, figurines, cosplay accessories
- Awards, trophies, plaques, medals – representative and “luxurious” look thanks to the gold color
- Advertising and presentation models – logos, signs, stands, promotional items
- Product prototypes – casings, covers, concepts that do not require high thermal or mechanical resistance
- Home décor models – vases (single wall), ornaments, candle holders, design accessories
Print settings (recommended by the manufacturer)
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C
- Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
- Recommended print surface:
- smooth PEI sheet
- textured PEI sheet
- satin PEI sheet
- Fan: 100 % (typical for PLA, depending on printer profile)
Before printing, make sure the print surface is clean and degreased (isopropyl alcohol or dish soap and water). This ensures reliable first-layer adhesion.
PLA Blend material properties
- Easy to print – suitable even for first experiences with 3D printing
- Low warping – ideal for larger models
- Very high surface quality – smooth, aesthetic, with a strong color effect
- Hard but rather brittle – less flexible, may crack when bent
- Lower heat resistance – not recommended for use in hot environments (car in the sun, etc.)
- More difficult to sand – hard material that can locally overheat and melt during dry sanding
Working with NFC (OpenPrintTag)
The new Prusament spools are equipped with a fully rewritable NFC tag based on the OpenPrintTag standard:
- stored data about the material type, color and recommended parameters,
- works offline – the printer/reader does not need cloud access,
- cross-ecosystem compatibility – open standard, also suitable for other manufacturers,
- can be read for example using the Prusa mobile app.
Thanks to this, a compatible printer can automatically set the appropriate filament profile and minimize errors caused by incorrect configuration.
Recommendations for beginners
- Start with the default Prusament PLA profile for your printer (e.g. in PrusaSlicer)
- Follow the recommended nozzle and bed temperatures – 215 °C / 50–60 °C
- Always check the first layer (height, adhesion); for PLA this is the key to trouble-free printing
- To achieve the best appearance of the gold effect, choose a rather low layer height (0,1–0,2 mm)
