Recommended use

Prusament PLA Azure Blue is suitable for a wide range of applications:

Print settings (reference values)

• Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
• Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C
• Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
• Recommended build plates:

• Print speed: typically 40–200 mm/s (depending on printer and desired quality)

Before printing, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the print surface (isopropyl alcohol, or according to the printer manufacturer’s recommendations) to ensure reliable adhesion of the first layers.

PLA material properties

• Easy to print – low requirements on settings and hardware
• Hard and stiff material – holds its shape well, less flexible
• Low warping – suitable for larger parts
• Poorer resistance to high temperatures – softens at around 55–60 °C
• More brittle than PETG, ASA, etc. – less suitable for highly stressed parts

Post‑processing (print finishing)

• Sanding:
  • wet sanding is recommended – with water to prevent local overheating and softening of the plastic
  • without water the abrasive clogs quickly and the surface may deform
• Gluing:
  • cyanoacrylate super glues bond very well
  • some PLA grades can be partially bonded with acetone, depending on the specific shade and additives – always test on a sample
• Surface finishing:
  • painting with acrylic paints
  • filling and subsequent sanding for a smooth surface

Packaging and storage

• Filament weight: 2 kg on a large spool
• The filament is supplied in sealed packaging with desiccant to protect it from moisture.
• For long‑term storage, keep the spool in a dry place (ideally in a resealable box or bag with silica gel).
• For the 2kg variant you need to take into account the larger spool diameter – it is recommended to use a special holder for 2kg spools, which can be 3D printed.
