Product description
Prusament PLA Azure Blue 2kg
Prusament PLA Azure Blue 2kg is a premium PLA filament developed and manufactured directly by Prusa Research in Prague. Each spool is carefully inspected and offers excellent dimensional accuracy of ±0,02 mm and stable, deep azure blue coloring, ensuring consistent results with every print.
Thanks to its low thermal shrinkage, PLA is ideal for large objects with minimal warping, while the low melting temperature allows you to print fine details and miniatures. It is a great choice for users who want a highly reliable and easy‑to‑use filament for everyday printing.
Main advantages
- Top quality from Prusa Research – in‑house production, strict control of every batch
- High dimensional accuracy ±0,02 mm – stable extrusion, fewer clogged nozzles and consistent layers
- Azure blue color (Azure Blue) – vivid, rich shade suitable for design models and prototypes
- Easy to print even for beginners – PLA is a very forgiving material, no enclosed chamber required
- Suitable for both small and large prints – low warping, good bed adhesion
- Made in the Czech Republic – high‑quality European product, thoroughly documented parameters of each spool on prusament.com
- Large 2 kg spool – ideal for serial printing, print farms, large models or long jobs without filament changes
Recommended use
Prusament PLA Azure Blue is suitable for a wide range of applications:
- Decorative and design models – vases, figurines, character models, collectible models
- Concept prototypes – visual prototypes of parts, packaging, ergonomic models
- Larger functional parts with low mechanical load – holders, covers, organizers
- Models for education and schools – simple and reliable printing for beginner users
If increased temperature, chemical, or mechanical resistance is not required (e.g. for car parts, outdoor use or direct sun exposure), PLA is often the best and most convenient choice.
Print settings (reference values)
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 215 °C
- Bed temperature: 50–60 °C
- Recommended build plates:
- Smooth PEI sheet
- Textured sheet
- Satin sheet
- Print speed: typically 40–200 mm/s (depending on printer and desired quality)
Before printing, we recommend thoroughly cleaning the print surface (isopropyl alcohol, or according to the printer manufacturer’s recommendations) to ensure reliable adhesion of the first layers.
PLA material properties
- Easy to print – low requirements on settings and hardware
- Hard and stiff material – holds its shape well, less flexible
- Low warping – suitable for larger parts
- Poorer resistance to high temperatures – softens at around 55–60 °C
- More brittle than PETG, ASA, etc. – less suitable for highly stressed parts
Post‑processing (print finishing)
- Sanding:
- wet sanding is recommended – with water to prevent local overheating and softening of the plastic
- without water the abrasive clogs quickly and the surface may deform
- Gluing:
- cyanoacrylate super glues bond very well
- some PLA grades can be partially bonded with acetone, depending on the specific shade and additives – always test on a sample
- Surface finishing:
- painting with acrylic paints
- filling and subsequent sanding for a smooth surface
Packaging and storage
- Filament weight: 2 kg on a large spool
- The filament is supplied in sealed packaging with desiccant to protect it from moisture.
- For long‑term storage, keep the spool in a dry place (ideally in a resealable box or bag with silica gel).
- For the 2kg variant you need to take into account the larger spool diameter – it is recommended to use a special holder for 2kg spools, which can be 3D printed.
