Product description

Product Description

Prusament PLA Azure Blue 1kg (NFC) is a top-tier PLA filament from Prusa Research's own production. Each spool is manufactured with guaranteed diameter precision of ±0.02 mm and undergoes thorough quality control – ensuring consistent printing without clogging or extrusion fluctuations.

This filament in Azure Blue shade offers a rich, distinct color with a very nice surface finish that stands out on functional parts, design models, and figurines.

The integrated NFC chip in the spool allows compatible Original Prusa printers (e.g., MK4 series, XL, and others with an NFC reader) to automatically load material information, such as type, color, and remaining filament amount.

Key Features

  • Original Prusament PLA – manufactured internally at Prusa Research
  • Diameter precision ±0.02 mm – superior tolerance for reliable printing
  • Integrated NFC chip in the spool – automatic material identification on supported printers
  • Filament diameter 1.75 mm – compatible with most FFF/FDM 3D printers
  • Azure Blue color – rich, distinct shade with high-quality surface finish
  • Easy printing – low warping, minimal deformation, and good detail retention
  • Suitable for beginners and advanced users
  • Ideal for prototypes, figurines, decorations, fixtures, educational models

Recommended Use

Prusament PLA Azure Blue is particularly suitable for:

  • visual prototypes and concepts
  • models and figurines with fine details
  • decorations, holders, organizers, and home accessories
  • educational and demonstration models in schools and clubs

Thanks to low shrinkage and high dimensional stability, it is also suitable for larger printed objects where warping and layer delamination are undesirable.

Technical Parameters of the Material (PLA Prusament)

  • Material: PLA (polylactic acid)
  • Filament diameter: 1.75 mm
  • Diameter tolerance: ±0.02 mm (±0.03 mm for blends)
  • Spool weight: 1 kg of pure filament
  • Density: approx. 1.24 g/cm³
  • Temperature resistance: approx. 55 °C
  • Hardness: approx. 81 Shore D
  • Processing: FFF/FDM 3D printing

Recommended Print Settings

  • Nozzle temperature: 210 °C ±10 °C
  • Bed temperature: 40–60 °C
  • Print speed: up to approx. 200 mm/s (depending on printer and model)
  • Cooling: 100 % (strong part cooling)
  • Recommended surface: PEI, glass, smooth / textured PEI sheet, or glue stick

For PLA, a closed chamber is generally not recommended; printing works well in open spaces.

Advantages and Limitations of PLA

Advantages:

  • very easy printing – suitable for beginners
  • low warping and deformation, suitable for larger models
  • excellent detail retention (nozzles ≤0.4 mm)
  • minimal odor during printing

Limitations:

  • lower temperature resistance (softens above approx. 55–60 °C)
  • more brittle than PETG or ASA – unsuitable for highly stressed parts
  • less suitable for outdoor use (lower UV and temperature resistance)

Practical Printing Tips

  • Before printing, thoroughly clean the print bed (isopropyl alcohol, according to printer manufacturer recommendations).
  • For better adhesion of the first layers, you can reduce the first layer speed and slightly increase the bed temperature.
  • For fine sanding of PLA, use wet sanding – it reduces local overheating and surface deformation.
  • For gluing PLA parts, superglue (CA) is proven effective.

Suitable Printers

The filament is primarily intended for Original Prusa printers (MK4, MK3S+, XL, MINI, and others), but it is fully compatible with most 3D printers supporting PLA and 1.75 mm diameter filament. Thanks to NFC functionality, material identification will be used mainly by newer Original Prusa printers equipped with the corresponding reader.

Key Features:

  • Premium PLA filament manufactured directly at Prusa Research on their own lines
  • Highly precise filament diameter of 1.75 mm with ±0.02 mm tolerance
  • Integrated NFC chip in the spool for Original Prusa printers with NFC reader
  • Rich Azure Blue shade with high-quality surface finish
  • Easy printing, minimal warping, and excellent dimensional stability
  • Suitable for beginners and advanced 3D printing users
  • Ideal for prototypes, figurines, decorations, home and office accessories
  • Optimized for Original Prusa printers, but compatible with most 1.75mm FFF/FDM printers
