Product description
Product description
Prusament PLA Azure Blue 1kg (NFC) is a top-quality PLA filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research. Each spool is produced with a guaranteed diameter accuracy of ±0.02 mm and undergoes thorough quality control – giving you the assurance of consistent printing without clogging and extrusion fluctuations.
This filament in the shade Azure Blue (azure blue) offers a rich, vibrant color with a very nice surface finish that stands out perfectly on functional parts, designer models and miniatures.
The integrated NFC chip in the spool enables compatible Original Prusa printers (e.g. the MK4 series, XL and others with an NFC reader) to automatically load material information such as type, color and remaining filament length.
Key features
- Original Prusament PLA – manufactured in-house at Prusa Research
- Diameter accuracy ±0.02 mm – above-standard tolerance for reliable printing
- Integrated NFC chip in the spool – automatic material identification on supported printers
- Filament diameter 1,75 mm – compatible with most FFF/FDM 3D printers
- Azure blue color (Azure Blue) – rich, vibrant shade with high-quality surface finish
- Easy to print – low warping, minimal deformation and good detail retention
- Suitable for beginners and advanced users alike
- Ideal for prototypes, miniatures, decorations, jigs, educational models
Recommended use
Prusament PLA Azure Blue is particularly suitable for:
- visual prototypes and concept models
- models and miniatures with fine details
- decorations, mounts, organizers and home accessories
- educational and demonstration models for schools and hobby clubs
Thanks to its low shrinkage and high dimensional stability, it is also suitable for larger printed objects, where warping and layer delamination are undesirable.
Material technical parameters (PLA Prusament)
- Material: PLA (polylactic acid)
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- Diameter tolerance: ±0,02 mm (±0,03 mm for blends)
- Spool weight: 1 kg of pure filament
- Density: approx. 1,24 g/cm³
- Heat resistance: approx. 55 °C
- Hardness: approx. 81 Shore D
- Processing: FFF/FDM 3D printing
Recommended print settings
- Nozzle temperature: 210 °C ±10 °C
- Bed temperature: 40–60 °C
- Print speed: up to approx. 200 mm/s (depending on printer and model)
- Cooling: 100 % (strong part cooling)
- Recommended surface: PEI, glass, smooth / textured PEI sheet, or glue stick
For PLA, an enclosed chamber is generally not recommended; printing works well even in an open environment.
Advantages and limitations of PLA
Advantages:
- very easy to print – suitable for beginners
- low warping and deformation, suitable for larger models
- excellent detail preservation (nozzles ≤0,4 mm)
- minimal odor during printing
Limitations:
- lower heat resistance (softens above approx. 55–60 °C)
- more brittle than PETG or ASA – not suitable for heavily stressed parts
- less suitable for outdoor use (lower UV and heat resistance)
Practical printing tips
- Before printing, thoroughly clean the print surface (isopropyl alcohol, according to the printer manufacturer’s recommendation).
- For better first-layer adhesion you can reduce the first-layer speed and slightly increase the bed temperature.
- For fine sanding of PLA, use wet sanding – it reduces local overheating and surface deformation.
- For bonding PLA parts, cyanoacrylate (CA) super glue works very well.
Suitable printers
The filament is intended primarily for Original Prusa printers (MK4, MK3S+, XL, MINI and others), but is fully compatible with most 3D printers that support PLA and 1,75 mm filament. Thanks to NFC, the material identification functionality is mainly utilized by newer Original Prusa printers equipped with a suitable reader.
