Product description

Prusament PETG V0 Natural is a premium self-extinguishing PETG filament from Prusa Research, designed for safely printing enclosures and plastic parts for electronics and other technical components where there is a risk of fire. As one of the few filaments on the market, it has UL certification (UL94 V0), making it an ideal material for both hobby electronics and professional prototypes in industry, where compliance with fire safety standards must be demonstrated. The material is based on classic Prusament PETG, so it retains good toughness, strength and temperature resistance, while also containing self-extinguishing additives. Thanks to its low shrinkage, prints hardly warp, making it suitable for larger parts as well.

Main advantages

  • Self-extinguishing PETG with UL94 V0 certification – meets strict fire safety standards
  • Safe choice for electronics enclosures and parts (switchboards, power supplies, control units, IoT boxes)
  • High temperature resistance of up to 68 °C – suitable for technical and functional parts
  • Low warping and shrinkage – stable printing even with larger objects
  • Easy to print – low to medium printing difficulty, suitable for experienced beginners and advanced users
  • Good strength and toughness, the material is not brittle
  • Glossy and smooth surface of prints – presentable appearance
  • Easy to sand – suitable for further surface treatment

Limitations and recommendations

  • Hygroscopic material – it is recommended to dry the filament before printing (approx. 6 h at ~55 °C)
  • Not suitable for very small parts – risk of stringing
  • Weaker bridging performance – supports must be used carefully
  • Strong adhesion to the print bed – care is required when removing prints
  • Cannot be smoothed with acetone like ABS
  • More sensitive to scratching than PLA

Typical applications

Enclosures and housings for electronics

  • Boxes for Arduino, Raspberry Pi and other microcontrollers
  • Enclosures for switched-mode power supplies and converters
  • Housings for home automation, IoT devices and relay modules

Insulating and mounting parts

  • Insulating inserts and holders for electronic modules
  • Spacers, cable clips and terminal block covers

Other technical parts requiring fire safety

  • Components for small machines and devices
  • Elements for device prototypes prior to certification

Recommended print settings

Specific values may vary depending on the printer, nozzle and environmental conditions. The parameters below are based on recommendations from Prusa Research.

Temperatures

  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 230 ± 10 °C
  • Print bed temperature: approx. 80 ± 10 °C

Printing conditions

  • Printing difficulty: low to medium
  • Recommended layer height: from 0,15 mm and higher
  • Print speed: relatively high (PETG is also suitable for faster printing)
  • Fan: a cooling fan is recommended (approx. 50%); for maximum strength, printing can be performed without a fan or with limited cooling

Print bed and adhesion

  • Recommended surfaces:
    • Smooth/textured PEI sheet
    • glass plate (possibly with the aid of adhesive)
    • painter's tape
  • Keep the print bed clean and degreased before printing.

Filament drying

  • PETG V0 is significantly hygroscopic; the following is recommended:
    • store in a sealed drybox with desiccant
    • if necessary, dry for 6 h at ~55 °C before important prints

Appearance and color

  • Shade: Natural (natural, semi-transparent appearance)
  • Surface: glossy, smooth
  • Prints have a technical and clean appearance, making them suitable for functional parts and prototypes.

Who the filament is suitable for

  • Makers and hobbyists working with home electronics and looking to reduce the risk of fire
  • Companies and development departments that need to rapidly prototype parts with verifiable UL certification
  • Customers looking for a combination of safety, functionality and ease of printing

Safety and certification

  • Material type: self-extinguishing PETG
  • Flammability certification: UL94 V0 (according to IEC 60695-11-10)

Summary

Prusament PETG V0 Natural is the ideal choice where standard PETG is not sufficient due to fire safety requirements. It provides reassurance thanks to its UL certification, while retaining the familiar advantages of classic PETG: easy printing, good mechanical resistance and minimal warping. It is an excellent filament for safe electronics enclosures, insulating elements and technical applications in both home and professional environments.
