Product description
Product description
Prusament PETG Ultramarine Blue 1kg (NFC) is a top-quality PETG filament manufactured directly at Prusa Research on fully controlled production lines. Each spool is precisely wound, with strictly monitored diameter and documented quality – the parameters of a specific spool can be looked up by batch on the Prusament portal.
PETG combines the advantages of PLA (easy printing) and ABS (higher toughness and heat resistance). In the Ultramarine Blue shade you get a rich, deep blue color with a very nice, slightly glossy surface, suitable both for functional parts and for representative prototypes and design.
NFC spool – smarter filament handling
This variant is supplied on a new NFC spool with OpenPrintTag technology:
- integrated NFC chip in the spool
- automatic identification of the material and its profile on compatible Original Prusa printers (e.g. newer generations with an NFC reader)
- makes it easier to choose the correct profile, track remaining material and manage materials
- modern, detachable spool simplifies recycling and possible refills
PETG material properties
PETG is popular for functional and technically stressed prints where you need:
- higher toughness and impact resistance than PLA
- better temperature resistance (typically around 70–80 °C depending on the part geometry)
- good layer adhesion and dimensional stability
- less warping than ABS
Ultramarine Blue PETG is suitable for:
- technical parts and functional prototypes
- electronics covers and holders
- mechanical components with higher load (clips, mounts, hinges, couplings)
- home and workshop organizers, hooks, storage systems
- design and decorative models where you want an attractive blue surface
Recommended print settings
Specific values may vary depending on the printer and environment, but for Prusament PETG you typically use:
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 240–250 °C
- Bed temperature: approx. 80–90 °C
- Recommended surface: textured or satin spring steel sheet (for a smooth sheet, proper surface preparation is necessary)
- Cooling: medium, according to the recommended PETG profile (too strong cooling can worsen layer adhesion)
For optimal results, use the official profiles for Prusament PETG in PrusaSlicer or other slicers where these profiles are available.
Bed preparation and printing tips
- Before printing, thoroughly clean the print sheet (e.g. with isopropyl alcohol on a cooled sheet according to Prusa Research recommendations).
- On a smooth PEI sheet it is advisable to use a separating layer (e.g. glue stick) to prevent surface damage caused by PETG adhering too strongly.
- PETG is more sensitive to moisture than PLA – store it in a dry place (sealed boxes, silica gel) and, if necessary, dry it before printing.
- To achieve a clean surface and minimize smudges or buildup on the nozzle, it is advisable to fine-tune retractions and infill speeds.
Suitable printers
The filament is optimized for:
- Original Prusa MK4, MK3S+, XL, MINI+ and other Original Prusa printers supporting 1,75 mm filament and an NFC reader
However, it is fully compatible with most FFF/FDM printers working with 1,75 mm filament, provided that the temperatures and PETG profile are set correctly.
