Product description
Product description
Prusament PETG Prusa Pro Green 1kg (NFC) is a top‑class PETG filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research. The entire production process is carefully monitored and measured, thanks to which Prusament guarantees a filament diameter accuracy of ±0,02 mm and a highly consistent shade of green color. This results in reliable feeding, a smooth surface finish, and minimal tuning of print profiles.
This PETG combines high toughness, flexibility, and heat resistance, making it an excellent choice for functional components, brackets, jigs, electronic enclosures, or parts exposed to weather or water. Excellent layer adhesion ensures mechanically durable prints with a low risk of delamination.
The new generation of spools is also equipped with an NFC tag according to the open OpenPrintTag standard – the printer or mobile app can read important information about the material directly from the spool (type, color, recommended settings, etc.), completely offline and without any dependence on the cloud.
Main advantages of Prusament PETG
- High temperature resistance – suitable for parts exposed to higher temperatures than PLA.
- High strength and toughness – withstands mechanical stress, has some flexibility, less brittle than PLA.
- Low shrinkage and warping – minimal warping during printing, even for larger models.
- Excellent layer adhesion – strong bonds between layers, suitable for functional parts.
- Easy printing – significantly easier to print compared to standard PET and ABS.
- Premium winding and quality control – every spool is measured and can be traced via a QR code.
Possible disadvantages of PETG
- Poorer rendering of fine details compared to PLA.
- Prone to stringing – requires proper tuning of retractions and temperature, and possibly drying the filament before printing.
- Weaker bridges compared to PLA – requires appropriate cooling and speed settings.
Use cases and typical applications
Prusament PETG Prusa Pro Green is particularly suitable for:
- Holders, mounts, brackets, and assembly parts (e.g. for workshop, garage, household).
- Structural and functional prototypes that must withstand mechanical loads.
- Electronic enclosures and cases, tool parts, technical components.
- Parts for humid environments or in contact with water – PETG is a water‑resistant material.
- Outdoor use, where higher heat and weather resistance than PLA is required.
- Parts for 3D printers – Prusa prints some of its plastic components from PETG.
The rich Prusa Pro Green color is ideal for both design and functional parts that should be visible and easy to distinguish (e.g. safety elements, control elements, workshop parts, etc.).
NFC and OpenPrintTag – smart spool
This (NFC) variant is wound on the new generation of Prusament spools, which contain a fully rewritable NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard:
- Instant filament identification – the printer or mobile app reads the data directly from the spool.
- Offline operation – all essential information is stored in the NFC tag, no internet connection is required.
- Open standard – can be used across different brands and ecosystems.
- Better UX for multi‑material and multi‑color printing thanks to the slimmer spool dimensions and easy disassembly.
All this simplifies material management, selection of the correct presets, and minimizes printing errors.
Recommended print settings
For Prusament PETG Prusa Pro Green the manufacturer recommends the following indicative parameters:
- Nozzle temperature: 250 ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: 80 ± 10 °C
- Recommended print sheet: textured or satin spring steel sheet
Before printing it is advisable to:
- Thoroughly clean the print surface (e.g. dish soap and water for textured/satin sheets, then rinse).
- Optionally dry the filament if you notice pronounced stringing or bubbles in the print.
- Use the material presets in PrusaSlicer for Prusament PETG, where retractions, speeds, and cooling are already tuned.
Tips for printing PETG
- Stringing: If fine hairs appear, try slightly lowering the nozzle temperature or increasing retraction. Ideally start with the official profile in PrusaSlicer and make small adjustments.
- Bed adhesion: PETG adheres very strongly; on smooth PEI it is advisable to use a separating layer (e.g. glue stick) to avoid damaging the surface.
- Post‑processing the print: Fine “fuzz” can be removed with a quick pass of a heat gun.
