Product description
Product Description
Prusament PETG Prusa Orange Transparent 1kg (NFC) is a top-of-the-line filament made of PETG material produced by the in‑house team at Prusa Research. This is a translucent orange variant in the typical Prusa Orange color, which combines an attractive appearance with excellent mechanical properties.
PETG is a versatile and very popular material for functional, mechanically stressed, and outdoor parts. Compared to PLA, it is less brittle, more flexible, and more resistant to higher temperatures, while maintaining relatively easy printing and a low risk of warping. Thanks to high-quality production with a guaranteed tolerance of ±0.02 mm, Prusament offers a very consistent diameter and color throughout the entire length of the string.
The new generation of spools is equipped with an NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard, which allows easy loading of material information directly into compatible printers and applications – without the need for a cloud or closed ecosystems.
Main Advantages
- Premium PETG directly from Prusa Research – complete in‑house production and quality control
- Translucent orange (Prusa Orange Transparent) – ideal for backlit and design parts
- High heat resistance – suitable for parts exposed to higher temperatures (e.g., in car interiors, near electronics)
- High strength and toughness – good mechanical resistance, partial flexibility, less brittle than PLA
- Low shrinkage and minimal warping – suitable even for larger prints without an enclosed chamber
- Excellent layer adhesion – suitable even for waterproof models (appropriate choice of printing parameters necessary)
- Diameter accuracy ±0.02 mm – consistent results and lower risk of nozzle clogging
- Integrated NFC tag (OpenPrintTag) – direct reading of filament data (material, color, profile) by compatible devices
- Mostly odorless during printing – more comfortable use in common environments
Recommended Use
- Mechanical and functional parts – holders, grips, jigs, functional components
- 3D printer parts – replacement and additional components, covers, and mounts
- Holders and organizers for the workshop or office
- Electronics, lighting, and sensor covers – translucent effect for indicator LEDs, etc.
- Design and decorative models – lamps, light objects, logos, and signs with backlighting
Printing Properties and Recommended Settings
Recommended Temperatures
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 250 °C ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: approx. 80 °C ± 10 °C
Print Surfaces
- Especially recommended are:
- textured spring steel sheet
- satin spring steel sheet
Before printing, it is important to have a clean bed surface according to the manual's recommendations (degreasing with isopropyl alcohol, etc.), because PETG has very strong adhesion – for thin parts or on smooth PEI, it is advisable to use a separation layer (glue stick) if necessary.
General PETG Behavior
- Low warping – suitable for larger parts
- Tendency to string – can be reduced by correct retraction and temperature settings
- Worse bridging than PLA – for bridges and overhangs, it is advisable to increase cooling or adjust the part geometry
Tips for Working with PETG
- Filament drying: PETG is more sensitive to moisture – for best results, it is recommended to dry the filament before printing according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
- Retraction settings: to reduce stringing, retraction can be slightly increased and nozzle temperature fine-tuned.
- Post‑processing: parts can be sanded relatively easily (wet and dry sanding). The material is softer than PLA and does not "smear" as much.
- Removing prints: due to strong adhesion to the bed, we recommend letting the bed cool down after printing and potentially bending it slightly to release the part.
