Product description

Prusament PETG Prusa Orange 1kg (NFC)

Premium PETG filament manufactured in-house by Prusa Research. Prusament PETG is designed for reliable and consistent 3D printing on Original Prusa printers and other FDM/FFF machines. The Prusa Orange variant is the iconic orange color used on Prusa printer parts.

Main advantages of the material

  • Easy and stable printing – optimized profiles in PrusaSlicer, excellent layer adhesion.
  • High toughness and strength – suitable for functional and mechanically stressed parts.
  • Good temperature resistance – usable for parts with an operating temperature up to approx. 70 °C.
  • Low shrinkage and minimal warping – suitable even for larger prints, does not deform like ABS.
  • Very precise diameter – guaranteed tolerance ±0.02 mm ensures consistent extrusion.
  • Post-processing possibility – parts can be further sanded, drilled, or mechanically machined.
  • NFC chip in the spool – enables automatic filament identification on compatible printers and systems.

Recommended use

  • Functional and structural parts
  • Holders, jigs, assembly aids
  • Electronics covers, cases, parts for hobby projects
  • Outdoor components (protected from long-term UV radiation)
  • Prototypes, design models, and final products where both mechanical resistance and appearance are important

Printing settings (recommendation)

For best results, we recommend using the preset Prusament PETG profiles in PrusaSlicer.

  • Nozzle temperature: 250 ± 10 °C
  • Bed temperature: 70–90 °C
  • Print bed: textured (powder-coated) or satin steel sheet with PEI
  • Print speed: commonly 60–80 mm/s, possible up to ~200 mm/s depending on the printer
  • Cooling: approx. 50 % (medium fan speed)

Slight stringing is common with PETG. It can be reduced by adjusting retraction and temperatures, or removed after printing with a short blast from a heat gun.

Material properties of PETG Prusament

  • Material: PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol)
  • Density: approx. 1.27 g/cm³
  • Hardness: 74 D (Shore D)
  • Filament dimensional tolerance: ±0.02 mm
  • Dimensional stability and low internal stress – lower risk of cracking and warping of parts.

Color Prusa Orange

The iconic Prusa Orange gives prints a professional and striking look. It is suitable for both technical prototypes and covers, as well as design models, accessories, and decorations coordinated with Original Prusa printers.

Tips for successful printing

  • Keep the print bed clean (isopropyl alcohol, or dish soap water for degreasing).
  • Do not use a glue stick on textured/satin PEI sheets unless explicitly recommended by the manufacturer.
  • In case of first layer adhesion issues, slightly increase the bed or first layer temperature and check the nozzle height above the bed.
  • After printing, store the filament back in a resealable bag with silica gel to prevent moisture absorption.

This filament is the ideal choice for users who require reliable, strong, and easy-to-print PETG with precisely controlled quality and smart identification thanks to NFC.
