Product description
Prusament PETG Prusa Galaxy Black 1kg (NFC)
Prusament PETG Prusa Galaxy Black is a premium filament from Prusa Research's own production, combining high quality, great printability, and a unique look with metallic glitters in a deep black color. The (NFC) variant is wound on a new smart spool with an OpenPrintTag NFC tag, which enables easy material identification and more convenient workflow during printing.
Main advantages and use
- Easy PETG printing – very good layer adhesion, low warping, and shrinkage
- Good thermal resistance – suitable for functional parts stressed by heat more than PLA
- High strength and durability – ideal for technical components, brackets, covers, and jigs
- Iconic Galaxy Black look – black with fine glitters hides small surface imperfections
- Better sandability than PLA – PETG is softer, melts less during sanding
- NFC tag (OpenPrintTag) – the printer or app can read the material type and recommended parameters
- Precise manufacturing – filament diameter controlled with ±0,02 mm accuracy for reliable and consistent printing
Typical use:
- functional and technical parts
- electronics covers, brackets, assembly jigs
- design and decorative models with an impressive surface
- prototypes requiring strength and partial thermal resistance
Printing recommendations
Recommended settings
- Nozzle temperature: approx. 230–250 °C (use the Prusament PETG profile in PrusaSlicer)
- Bed temperature: approx. 70–90 °C
- Print speed: standard speeds for PETG according to the printer profile
- Cooling: medium, as per the PETG profile recommendations
Before printing, ensure the print surface is clean and degreased according to the recommendations in the 3D printing handbook from Prusa Research.
Minimizing stringing
PETG tends to ooze slightly from the nozzle and can create hairs (stringing). Recommendations:
- store filament in a dry place, or dry it before printing according to the manufacturer's recommendations
- use the default Prusament PETG profile in PrusaSlicer (optimized retractions and temperatures)
- any small "hairs" can be quickly removed with a heat gun by briefly blowing over the model
NFC spool with OpenPrintTag
This version is wound on a new redesigned spool with an NFC tag:
- OpenPrintTag NFC – rewritable tag with stored material information
- works entirely offline, data is directly on the NFC tag
- compatibility across brands and ecosystems (open standard)
- can be read using the Prusa mobile app and supported printers
- the new spool has a slimmer profile and a locking mechanism for easier recycling and filament drying
Prusament Quality
Prusament PETG is manufactured in-house at Prusa Research with emphasis on color and dimensional consistency:
- diameter 1,75 mm controlled with ±0,02 mm accuracy
- each batch undergoes detailed quality control
- thanks to precise winding, the filament does not cross and unwinds smoothly even during long prints
Technical parameters
- Material: PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol)
- Color: Prusa Galaxy Black (black with glitters)
- Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
- Diameter tolerance: ±0,02 mm
- Net filament weight: 1 kg
- Spool: new generation with NFC (OpenPrintTag), also suitable for filament drying
- Recommended nozzle temperature: approx. 230–250 °C
- Recommended bed temperature: approx. 70–90 °C
