Prusament PETG Magnetite 40% Grey 1kg (NFC)

Prusament PETG Magnetite 40% Grey is a premium composite PETG filament developed and manufactured in-house by Prusa Research. The filament is filled with 40 % magnetite powder, giving it paramagnetic properties and higher density. It is intended for advanced functional prints, especially where there is a need to react to magnetic fields or utilize the possibility of attachment to magnets.

Note: The filament has paramagnetic, not permanently magnetic properties. It cannot be "magnetized" at home to behave like a classic magnet – this would require a very strong magnetizing device.


Recommended print settings

For reliable printing, the following basic settings are recommended:

  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 270 ± 5 °C
  • Bed temperature: approx. 100 ± 10 °C
  • Recommended print sheet: textured or satin spring steel sheet
  • Printer type: standard FDM/FFF 3D printers with a hardened steel or other durable nozzle

Before printing, it is advisable to prepare the bed surface according to the manufacturer's recommendations (degreasing, or a separation layer for specific types of sheets).


Important printing tips

  • Hardened nozzle is a necessity – magnetite filler is very abrasive and would significantly wear down a brass nozzle. Use a hardened steel, toughened, or ruby or other durable nozzle.
  • Print speed should be medium; it is a filled material that appreciates a more stable flow and quality cooling.
  • Storage: like other PETG – keep dry, ideally in a resealable container with silica gel. For long-term consistent results, the filament can be gently dried according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • NFC tag: The NFC chip on the spool contains information about the material (type, color, production batch, etc.) and can be read in compatible printers or the Prusa app.
