Product description

Prusament PETG Lipstick Red 1kg (NFC)

Prusament PETG Lipstick Red is a top‑class PETG filament manufactured in‑house by Prusa Research / Prusa Polymers, designed for reliable printing of both functional and aesthetic parts. The intense red “lipstick red” shade gives your models a distinctive, saturated look, while PETG as a material offers higher strength, toughness, and heat resistance compared to PLA.

Thanks to the highly precise diameter of 1,75 mm (±0,02 mm), the filament behaves predictably and ensures smooth layers and consistent material flow. The new spool with an NFC tag (OpenPrintTag) additionally allows supported printers and the mobile app to instantly recognize the material type and its parameters.

Main advantages and applications

  • High printing reliability – PETG from Prusa is known for its stable properties and minimal warping during printing.
  • Heat resistance – suitable for parts used in warmer environments (e.g. in a car, near windows, in a workshop).
  • Good toughness – parts withstand impacts and mechanical stress better than PLA.
  • Striking red color – ideal for design models, highlighted parts, covers, brackets, accessories, and decorations.
  • Integrated NFC (OpenPrintTag) – quick spool identification, storage of material information, convenient use with modern printers.
  • Highly precise manufacturing – the diameter stays within a ±0,02 mm tolerance, which helps eliminate issues with nozzle clogging and inconsistent material flow.

Typical applications:

  • functional prototypes and components
  • mounts, holders, electronics enclosures
  • parts for the home and workshop
  • models exposed to sunlight or higher temperatures where PLA is not sufficient

Recommended printing parameters

Specific values may vary depending on the printer, nozzle, and the behavior of a particular spool, so treat them as starting settings.

  • Nozzle temperature: 250 °C (recommended range 240–260 °C)
  • Bed temperature: 80 °C (recommended range 70–90 °C)
  • Print speed: typically 40–80 mm/s, high‑quality printing is possible even at higher speeds (up to approx. 150–200 mm/s depending on the printer)
  • Cooling: approx. 30–60 % – usually lower than with PLA for better layer adhesion
  • Recommended bed surface: smooth, satin, or lightly textured PEI surface

For maximum adhesion, we recommend thoroughly degreasing the bed before printing (e.g. with isopropyl alcohol) and using a brim or elephant foot compensation in the slicer for larger models.

Material properties of PETG

  • Material: PETG (Polyethylene terephthalate glycol)
  • Density: approx. 1,27 g/cm³
  • Heat resistance: around 68 °C at standard load (HDT)
  • Tensile strength: approximately 46 MPa
  • Hardness: approx. 74 D (Shore D)

PETG combines the advantages of PLA and ABS – easier to print than ABS and with better mechanical and thermal properties than PLA. It is suitable for outdoor and functional parts where better resistance to heat, UV radiation, and mechanical stress is required.

NFC (OpenPrintTag) – smart spool

This Prusament variant is equipped with an NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard directly in the spool. This enables:

  • storing information about the material type and recommended parameters,
  • quick spool identification by compatible printers,
  • reading data via the Prusa mobile app even without an internet connection, because the information is stored directly in the tag.

This makes material changes more transparent and minimizes the risk of incorrect settings.

Who Prusament PETG Lipstick Red is suitable for

This filament will be appreciated by:

  • Hobby and professional users who want a combination of high quality, stability, and excellent appearance,
  • users looking for a reliable PETG for everyday functional printing,
  • those who want precise, repeatable results without long profile tuning,
  • customers who want to use modern NFC features for easier filament management.

Tips for successful PETG printing

  • Print with lower cooling than with PLA – this improves layer adhesion.
  • If you experience stringing, reduce the nozzle temperature or slightly adjust retractions.
  • PETG is more sensitive to adhesion – if parts are difficult to remove, slightly lower the bed temperature or use a separation layer (e.g. glue stick).
  • Store the spool in a dry place, ideally in a sealed box with desiccant.
