Product description
Product Description
Prusament PC Blend Urban Grey 900g (NFC) is a top-tier technical filament developed and manufactured directly by Prusa Research in Prague. It is a polycarbonate blend (PC Blend), which combines the high strength and toughness of polycarbonate with better printability compared to standard PC materials.
The Urban Grey shade is a modern, neutral grey that looks professional and is ideal for functional prototypes and end-use parts where a technical appearance without flashy colors is required.
Thanks to its high thermal resistance up to 113 °C, very good mechanical strength, and low creep effect (cold flow), this material is suitable not only for prototypes but also for real-world functional components in production lines, jigs, housings, covers, brackets, or parts stressed by heat and mechanics.
The new generation of Prusament spools is equipped with a fully rewritable NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard. The printer or a mobile application can read material data from the tag directly from the spool – without the need for a cloud or a locked ecosystem.
Main Advantages and Features
- Technical polycarbonate filament (PC Blend) – high strength, toughness, and wear resistance
- Thermal resistance up to 113 °C (HDT 0.45 MPa) – suitable for parts in warmer environments and near motors, fans, electronics
- Excellent dimensional stability compared to common PC filaments – less deformation and warping
- Printed parts do not deform under pressure over time – suitable for assembly and clamping jigs
- Very low moisture absorption – fewer problems with bubbles and material degradation
- Good electrical insulation properties – use for electronics brackets and housings
- Styrene-free – less toxic than ASA, more pleasant for workshop printing
- Diameter 1.75 mm with tolerance ±0.03 mm – precise quality control from Prusa Polymers
- New spool with OpenPrintTag NFC – quick loading of filament data, open standard, no cloud or vendor lock‑in
- Easily detachable spool – easy refilling, better filament drying, and compatibility with multi‑material systems
Recommended Use
Prusament PC Blend Urban Grey is intended primarily for advanced users and professionals looking for material for strong and durable functional parts:
- Prototypes with high mechanical requirements
- Machine parts, bearing housings, levers, hinges, covers, and brackets
- Jigs and clamping/jig parts for production and assembly
- Electronics housings, distribution boxes, spacers, and insulators
- Functional parts exposed to elevated temperatures (automotive interiors, surroundings of motors, fans, lights)
Not ideal for beginners – requires experience with printer settings, higher printing temperatures, and appropriate print surface preparation.
Print Settings (Manufacturer's Recommendations)
- Nozzle temperature: 275 ± 10 °C
- Bed temperature: 110 ± 10 °C
- Recommended print sheet: powder-coated satin (alternatively textured/smooth with a layer of glue stick as a release agent)
- Part cooling (fan): ~20 % (0–30 % depending on model geometry)
- Print speed: typically 40–80 mm/s (official datasheet allows up to ~200 mm/s, depending on printer capabilities)
When printing large parts, it is recommended to:
- Use an enclosure or at least a high skirt/brim around the model
- Apply glue (KORES type) as a release layer on smooth and textured PEI sheets
- Use a brim of at least 4 mm for parts larger than 5 cm
Tips for Successful Printing
- The material is easier to print than common PC, but still mainly suitable for advanced users
- Large models tend to warp and peel at the corners – enclosure and proper bed preparation are key
- When printing PC Blend regularly, we recommend always using a layer of glue as a separator to avoid damaging the PEI surface
- The filament has low moisture absorption, yet pre-drying (e.g., 4–6 hours around 80 °C as per manufacturer's recommendation) helps during long-term storage
