Product description

Product description

Prusament PC Blend Jet Black 900g (NFC) is an advanced polycarbonate (PC) filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research on its own lines with very strict quality control. This material is intended mainly for functional parts subjected to mechanical and thermal stress, where high strength, toughness, stiffness and dimensional stability are required. PC Blend combines the advantages of classic polycarbonate with better printability – it has less tendency to warp and crack between layers than common PC, while maintaining heat resistance up to approx. 113 °C. The Jet Black variant offers a deep, rich black shade suitable for technical parts, design prototypes and final products.

NFC spool – OpenPrintTag

The new generation of Prusament is wound on a redesigned spool with an integrated NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard. The tag is:
  • fully rewritable and works completely offline,
  • stored material data can be read directly by the printer or the Prusa mobile app,
  • an open standard – compatible with various brands and ecosystems.
This enables instant identification of the material, type, color and parameters directly during printing, which simplifies work in workshops, companies and makerspaces.

Key features

  • Polycarbonate filament (PC Blend) for functional and highly stressed parts
  • High heat resistance up to approx. 113 °C – suitable for parts near motors, electronics or in warmer environments
  • Very high strength, toughness and stiffness – resistance to impact and wear
  • Excellent dimensional stability compared to common PC – less warping, layer cracking is rather exceptional
  • Low moisture absorption – no need for frequent drying, the material is only minimally hygroscopic
  • Good electrical insulating properties – suitable for various electronic mounts and covers
  • Styrene-free – less problematic emissions compared to ASA/ABS
  • Diameter accuracy ±0.03 mm – stable extrusion and quality surface finish
  • NFC (OpenPrintTag) on the spool – fast material identification without cloud

Typical applications

Prusament PC Blend is ideal for:
  • Functional prototypes and final parts in small-batch production
  • Mechanically stressed components – mounts, levers, jigs, clamps, hinges
  • Thermally stressed parts – covers near motors, fans, heat sources
  • Parts for industrial and production lines – jigs, stops, templates
  • Technical components in automotive and mechanical engineering environments
It is not suitable as a “first” filament for beginners – it requires a more experienced user and a printer with a heated bed (ideally also an enclosure).

Recommended print settings

Temperatures

  • Nozzle temperature: 275 ± 10 °C
  • Bed temperature: 110 ± 10 °C

Print surface

  • Recommended surface: satin steel sheet / PEI (for smooth and textured sheets it is recommended to use a separation layer – e.g. glue stick)

Cooling and environment

  • Part cooling: partial, approx. 20 % (depending on the model geometry)
  • Recommended: printing in an enclosed space / enclosure or at least with a higher ambient temperature to reduce warping
  • Adhesion / bonding: for large models it is recommended to use glue, brim or higher skirt to increase adhesion and reduce warping

Printing tips

  • Before printing, check that the printer reliably reaches the required temperatures (nozzle ~275 °C, bed ~110 °C).
  • For larger objects, use an enclosure and a brim or high skirt to minimize warping.
  • Ensure good room ventilationslight odors may be released during printing.
  • For maximum part strength, orient parts so that the layer direction places as little stress as possible on critical areas.

Material technical parameters (general for Prusament PC Blend)

  • Material: polycarbonate blend (PC Blend)
  • Heat resistance: up to approx. 113 °C
  • Filament diameter: 1,75 mm
  • Diameter tolerance: ±0,03 mm
  • Recommended print speed: medium to high (depending on printer and geometry)
  • Hygroscopicity: very low, no regular drying required
  • Electrical properties: good electrical insulator
  • Color: Jet Black (black)
  • Winding: precisely and evenly wound filament on a rigid plastic spool with an NFC tag (OpenPrintTag)

Who Prusament PC Blend Jet Black is suitable for

  • Experienced users and professionals who need reliable functional parts rather than just visual prototypes
  • Companies and workshops that require repeatable quality and fast material identification using NFC
  • Users of Original Prusa printers as well as other FFF/FDM printers with a heated bed and sufficiently powerful hotend
This filament offers an excellent compromise between printability and top-notch mechanical and thermal properties, making it a suitable next step after mastering materials such as PETG or ASA.
