Product description

Prusament PC Blend Jet Black 2kg (NFC)

Prusament PC Blend Jet Black is a high-end filament based on polycarbonate (PC blend) developed by Prusa Research for printing mechanically and thermally stressed functional parts. This 2kg variant with an NFC chip is ideal for demanding users who print larger series or bulky parts and require maximum reliability.

Key Features

  • Material: PC Blend (polycarbonate blend) – technical plastic for stressed components
  • Color: Jet Black – deep, rich black
  • High heat resistance up to approx. 113 °C – suitable for parts near engines, fans, or other heat sources
  • Excellent mechanical strength and stiffness – very resistant to impact and long-term loads
  • Low creep under load – parts do not deform even under long-term mechanical stress
  • Very good dimensional stability compared to other PC materials
  • Low moisture absorption – usually does not require frequent drying like other technical filaments
  • Good electrical insulation properties
  • Styrene-free – contains no styrene, less problematic than ASA in terms of emissions
  • Integrated NFC chip – compatible Original Prusa printers recognize the material and load recommended profiles

Recommended Use

  • Functional prototypes and series parts exposed to mechanical stress
  • Parts in heat-stressed environments – motor covers, fan mounts, jigs near heating elements
  • Mechanical and industrial components – fixtures, clamps, sensor holders, robotic parts
  • Parts for the automotive and electronics sectors, where a combination of strength, stiffness, and heat resistance is required

Printing Properties and Recommendations

PC Blend is a material for more advanced users – it requires higher temperatures and some experience with printer settings:

  • Recommended nozzle temperature: approx. 275 ± 10 °C
  • Recommended heatbed temperature: approx. 110 ± 10 °C
  • A heated bed is a necessity
  • Recommended enclosed or at least partially covered printing environment to limit drafts and temperature shocks
  • Recommended surface: smooth or textured PEI sheet with a release layer (e.g., a thin layer of glue stick) to prevent surface damage due to excessive adhesion
  • To limit warping for larger models:
    • add a brim (min. 4 mm)
    • place the model in the center of the print surface
    • reduce the number of perimeters and infill for bulky solid parts
    • print in a stable temperature environment without drafts

A more noticeable odor may be present during printing, so we recommend good ventilation of the room or using a printing chamber with filtration.

Compatibility

  • Suitable for FDM/FFF 3D printers with direct or bowden extruders that can handle the specified nozzle and heatbed temperatures
  • Ideally tuned for Original Prusa printers (MK3S+, MK4, MINI+, etc.) using official profiles in PrusaSlicer

Main Advantages over Common Materials (PLA, PETG, ASA)

  • Significantly higher heat resistance than PLA and most PETG
  • Higher toughness and impact resistance than PLA
  • Better dimensional stability and less warping than conventional PC filaments
  • Better resistance to UV and chemicals than many common materials (depends on specific substances)

Who is Prusament PC Blend suitable for

  • Advanced and professional users who already have experience printing PETG, ASA, or other technical filaments
  • Developers, designers, and industrial users who require material for real functional use, not just visual prototypes
