Product description
PCCF (Prusament PC Blend Carbon Fiber) has similar printing properties to PC Blend, but thanks to the addition of carbon fibers, it has great strength, stiffness, and temperature resistance, and also has good dimensional stability.
Unlike pure PC Blend, it practically does not warp and has a really nice matte surface. Compared to most common materials, it is more resistant to UV radiation and common chemicals. Compared to classic PC Blend, PCCF is slightly lighter (approx. 5% difference).
The carbon fibers inside the filament are obtained by recycling waste from the manufacturing process or from carbon composites at the end of their life cycle.
PCCF is ideal for printing mechanically and thermally stressed parts, such as gears, machine parts requiring temperature resistance over 100 °C, etc. A huge advantage of PCCF lies in the possibility of printing large models without the need for a heated chamber.
Preparation before printing
It is necessary to use a hardened steel nozzle. Carbon fibers are highly abrasive and can damage the inside of a standard brass nozzle. For optimal adhesion, use a textured or satin print sheet. Clean them using IPA (available e.g. in pharmacies), which works well not only with PCCF but also with other materials. Pour a small amount of IPA on a paper towel and wipe the print bed with it. For the best cleaning effect, it is advisable to clean the bed when it is cold. At higher temperatures, the alcohol evaporates before it can clean the surface of the bed. Furthermore, the bed heated for printing with PCCF has a high temperature (110 °C) and you could get burned! Another option is to clean the surface with warm water and a few drops of dish soap on a paper towel. Denatured alcohol is another variant. PCCF is not suitable for printing on a smooth PEI print sheet. Printing PCCF on a smooth sheet risks irreversible damage, which is not covered by the warranty. If you need to print on a smooth surface, apply a glue stick before printing. When printing PCCF very frequently on a satin print sheet, it is recommended to apply a layer of glue stick to reduce wear on the sheet.
