Product description

Prusament ASA Sapphire Blue 800g (NFC) is a premium technical ASA (acrylonitrile–styrene–acrylate) filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research. ASA is a material similar to ABS but better in several respects – it has higher UV stability, lower shrinkage, and less irritating fumes during printing. Thanks to this, it is a great choice for functional parts, prototypes, and long-term outdoor use.

The shade Sapphire Blue is a deep, elegant blue color which, combined with the fine ASA surface, looks very professional – ideal for both design and technical parts.

The new generation of Prusament is wound on a redesigned spool with OpenPrintTag (NFC) technology. This allows the printer or mobile app to automatically recognize the material type, color, and other parameters without cloud dependence.

Main advantages and properties

• Great for outdoor use – ASA is UV stable, does not fade, and does not turn yellow even after long-term exposure to sunlight.
• High heat resistance – without deformation up to approximately 93 °C, suitable for parts near motors, fans, car interiors, etc.
• Good mechanical resistance – strong and tough material for functional mechanical parts.
• Lower shrinkage than ABS – less tendency to warp, although it is still advisable to print in a closed print chamber.
• Can be smoothed with acetone – for a smooth, almost painted surface, suitable for design parts and covers.
• Good surface quality and details – printing without significant stringing, with clean edges.
• Easy sanding and post-processing – suitable for parts that will be painted or surface-finished afterwards.
• New spool with NFC / OpenPrintTag – fully rewritable NFC tag with stored material data, compatible with the Prusa ecosystem and other systems supporting OpenPrintTag.
• Highly precise manufacturing – guaranteed diameter tolerance ±0,04 mm and very consistent color.
• Full batch traceability – after scanning the QR code on the spool, you can check the production parameters of the given spool on the Prusament portal.

Printing tips

• For larger models, use a closed chamber or at least a draft shield around the object to minimize warping.
• Print in a well-ventilated room, but avoid drafts around the printer.
• Before printing, thoroughly degrease the print surface (IPA, cleaner as recommended by the printer manufacturer).
• ASA is slightly hygroscopic – for longer storage, we recommend drying the filament according to the manufacturer’s recommendations (e.g. in a filament dryer or a drying oven with precise temperature control).
