Product description
Product description
Prusament ASA Lipstick Red 800g (NFC) is a premium technical ASA‑based filament from Prusa Research, manufactured in‑house under very strict quality control. It excels in high heat resistance (no deformation up to ~93 °C), UV stability, and excellent dimensional stability during printing. The shade Lipstick Red is a rich, vivid red color with a pleasant matte surface, suitable for both design and functional parts.
This new variant supplies the ASA filament on a modern thinner spool with an integrated NFC tag in the open OpenPrintTag standard. The tag contains key information about the material and can be read, for example, with the Prusa mobile app. Thanks to the narrower spool dimensions, the filament is more compatible with multi‑material and multi‑color systems and can be safely dried even at higher temperatures.
Main advantages of ASA material
- High heat resistance – prints do not show deformation up to ~93 °C
- UV stability and weather resistance – ideal for long‑term outdoor use
- Good mechanical strength and toughness – suitable for functional and stressed parts
- Possibility of acetone smoothing – smooth, aesthetic surface
- Easy sanding and further post‑processing
- Very good layer adhesion
- Solubility in acetone – possibility to bond ASA parts
- Matte surface – technical, non‑reflective appearance of prints
Spool features with NFC (OpenPrintTag)
- Integrated fully rewritable NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag standard
- Works offline – information is stored directly on the tag, no cloud required
- Easily readable via the Prusa mobile app and compatible systems
- New locking mechanism of the spool – quick disassembly, easy rewinding or recycling
- Safe drying of the spool even at higher temperatures
- Slender shape for better compatibility with multi‑material and AMS/MMU systems
Typical applications
Prusament ASA is particularly suitable for functional, technical, and outdoor parts where heat and UV resistance are important:
- Electronics enclosures, distribution and installation boxes
- Holders, mounts, handles, clips, and technical components
- Automotive parts (sensor mounts, brackets, covers)
- Garden and outdoor elements – hose, light, and camera holders, decorations
- Functional prototypes and small series of stressed parts
Printing recommendations
To achieve high‑quality prints, it is recommended to use:
- Nozzle: 260 ± 5 °C
- Bed: 110 ± 5 °C
- Recommended surface: satin spring steel sheet (Prusa)
- Fan: rather low intensity; in an enclosed chamber usually 0–30 %
- Print speed: according to the Prusament ASA profile recommendation, usually up to ~200 mm/s on suitable printers
Printing conditions and safety
- For larger models it is advisable to print in an enclosed printing chamber to reduce the risk of warping (corner lifting).
- The material releases styrene fumes during printing – we recommend printing in a well‑ventilated room or using air filtration. At the same time, avoid direct drafts on the print.
- ASA is slightly hygroscopic – for long‑term storage it is advisable to keep the spool dry and, in case of problems, dry the filament (filament dryer, food dehydrator, etc.).
