Product description
Product Description
Prusament ASA Jet Black 800g (NFC) is a high-quality ASA filament manufactured directly by Prusa Research on its own production lines. ASA is considered the modern successor to ABS – it is UV stable, shrinks less, has lower odor during printing while maintaining high strength and toughness of prints. Thanks to its excellent heat resistance (without deformation up to approximately 93 °C), the material is ideal for functional and outdoor parts.
This variant uses a new spool with an NFC label according to the OpenPrintTag standard. When placed near a supported printer or read in a mobile application, key material information (type, color, recommended temperatures, and other parameters) is automatically loaded, which significantly simplifies print setup and filament inventory management.
Key Features
- ASA Material – the successor to ABS
- High toughness and mechanical resistance
- Suitable for technical and functional parts
- UV stability and weather resistance
- Ideal for long-term outdoor use
- Prints do not become brittle or yellow as easily as ABS or PLA
- High heat resistance
- Without visible deformation up to approx. 93 °C
- Suitable for parts in car interiors, near heat sources, etc.
- Precise Prusament manufacturing
- Guaranteed diameter tolerance ±0.04 mm
- Consistently controlled color stability and winding quality
- Each spool has its own online profile with measured data
- OpenPrintTag NFC label on the spool
- Fully rewritable NFC tag according to the OpenPrintTag open standard
- Allows offline spool identification without dependence on the cloud
- Works with the Prusa app and compatible printers
- Great printing properties
- Detailed prints without significant stringing
- Excellent layer adhesion
- Can be sanded, drilled, glued with acetone
- Possibility of acetone vapor smoothing for a smooth surface
- Suitable applications
- Outdoor parts, covers, holders, structural elements
- Automotive and interior parts with increased temperature
- Functional prototypes, jigs, tools
- Design models that must not lose color in the sun
Printing Recommendations
To achieve high-quality prints from ASA, it is advisable to follow specific printing conditions:
- Recommended nozzle temperature: approx. 260 ± 5 °C
- Recommended bed temperature: approx. 110 ± 5 °C
- Recommended print sheet: steel sheet with satin / smooth PEI surface
- Recommended environment:
- Printing in a closed print chamber / enclosure to minimize warp
- Avoid drafts around the printer
- Ventilation: ASA contains styrene and releases fumes during printing, so print in a well-ventilated room that can be aired out after printing.
Always carefully degrease the bed surface (e.g., with isopropyl alcohol) before printing and for larger models consider using a brim, skirt, or draft shield to reduce corner warping.
Advantages of ASA compared to other materials
- Vs. PLA
- Much higher heat resistance
- Better mechanical and impact resistance
- More suitable for outdoor and functional parts
- Vs. PETG
- Higher heat resistance
- Better UV stability
- Surface can be more easily sanded and smoothed with acetone
- Vs. ABS
- Lower shrinkage and warping (warp)
- Lower odor during printing
- Better UV stability and resistance to aging
