Product description
Product description
Candour PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow is a high-quality PLA filament in a vibrant sunflower yellow color, which corresponds in material and color to the Bambu Lab PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow filament. It is produced by the same manufacturer, so you can expect the same printing behavior, mechanical properties, and color shade you know from the original Bambu Lab filament.
However, the Candour variant comes on its own plastic spool without an NFC chip. This means:
- no NFC tag – the Bambu Lab printer will not recognize the filament automatically,
- the spool has a different shape – it cannot be used as a refill spool for original Bambu Lab spools,
- but you can use the filament without any problems in Bambu Lab printers and other brands in "Generic PLA" mode or using your own profile.
Thanks to easy printing, low shrinkage, and a smooth surface, Candour PLA Basic is a great choice for beginners and advanced users. The bold Sunflower Yellow shade adds high visibility and a "sunny" look to models – ideal for decorations, logos, prototypes, promotional items, or parts you need to identify quickly.
Main advantages
- Same material and color as Bambu Lab PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow – identical printing behavior and shade.
- Easy to print – suitable for beginners, works well on most FDM 3D printers.
- Smooth surface and good detail – ideal for visual models, figurines, decorative, and design parts.
- Low warping and minimal shrinkage – dimensional stability, lower risk of curling.
- Bold sunflower yellow color – perfect for highlighting elements, safety markings, or color combinations.
- Eco-friendly choice compared to ABS – PLA is based on renewable resources and is biodegradable in industrial composting plants.
- Universal use – suitable for both slow and faster printing (depending on printer capabilities).
Recommended use
Candour PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow is suitable for:
- prototypes and functional models with an emphasis on color,
- decorations, figurines, models, and gift items,
- advertising and corporate elements (logos, signs, stands),
- educational projects and school models where visibility and color are important,
- color combinations with other PLAs for multicolor projects (AMS systems, manual filament swap).
Not suitable for applications requiring long-term resistance above approx. 50–60 °C (e.g., car interiors in direct sunlight) – in these cases, consider PETG, ASA, or another more heat-resistant material.
Compatibility with Bambu Lab
- Material and color: identical to Bambu Lab PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow (same manufacturer, same composition and shade).
- NFC tag: The Candour spool does not have an NFC chip – the Bambu Lab printer does not automatically recognize the filament type.
- Spool: construction is different from the original Bambu Lab spool, it cannot be used as a refill or as a carrier for the original refill packaging.
- For printing on Bambu Lab printers, use the Generic PLA profile or a custom profile derived from Bambu Lab PLA Basic.
Technical parameters (typical for PLA Basic Sunflower Yellow)
Values correspond to the parameters of PLA Basic from the same manufacturer (Bambu Lab PLA Basic) and may vary slightly within production tolerances.
Basic properties
- Material: PLA (polylactic acid)
- Filament diameter: 1.75 mm
- Diameter tolerance: ± 0.03 mm
- Net weight: approx. 1 kg of filament
- Recommended nozzle temperature: approx. 190–230 °C (typically 200–215 °C)
- Recommended bed temperature: 35–45 °C (many printers handle it even without heating, depending on adhesion)
- Recommended printing speed: normally 50–200 mm/s (high-speed printing according to printer capabilities)
- Density: approx. 1.24 g/cm³
- Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): ~55–60 °C (under load)
Mechanical properties (reference values)
- Tensile strength: approx. 60 MPa (approximate)
- Tensile modulus: approx. 3200 MPa (approximate)
- Elongation at break: ~6–10 % (approximate)
Recommended print settings
Take these values as a starting point and fine-tune them for your specific printer and model:
- Nozzle temperature: 205–215 °C for most printers
- Bed temperature: 40–50 °C (or 0 °C when using a suitable adhesive layer)
- Cooling: 100% after the first 2–3 layers (standard for PLA)
- Layer height: 0.12–0.28 mm depending on desired quality
- Printing speed: 60–150 mm/s (higher speeds only on a rigid and precise printer)
For large models, we recommend:
- enabling brim or raft for better adhesion,
- reducing drafts and sharp cooling on the first layer,
- checking the cleanliness and degreasing of the bed.
Storage
PLA is moisture-sensitive. To maintain top print quality:
- keep the spool in a sealable bag or box with desiccant,
- protect from direct sunlight and high temperatures,
- remove the filament from the printer and store it during longer periods of inactivity.
Summary
