Product description

Product Description

Bambu Lab PC Transparent is a top-tier polycarbonate filament designed for demanding technical applications. It offers high heat resistance (HDT ~117 °C), great impact toughness, and low shrinkage, making it ideal for precise functional parts exposed to mechanical stress and elevated temperatures.

The transparent finish allows for the printing of translucent and aesthetically attractive models, such as covers, lighting elements, protective shields, or viewing windows. The filament is supplied on a high-temperature reusable spool and contains an RFID chip for automatic profile loading in Bambu Lab printers with the AMS system.

Warning: PC is hygroscopic – it is necessary to dry the filament before printing and keep it dry during storage.

Key Features

  • Material: Polycarbonate (PC) – tough technical plastic with high resistance
  • Color: Transparent – suitable for translucent parts and design models
  • Filament Diameter: 1,75 mm (tolerance ±0,03 mm)
  • Material Weight: 1 kg (net on spool)
  • High Heat Resistance – heat deflection temperature (HDT) approx. 117 °C
  • High Impact Toughness – suitable for mechanically stressed parts
  • Low Shrinkage and Excellent Dimensional Stability – precise technical prints
  • Bambu Lab AMS Compatibility – RFID chip, automatic profile loading
  • Recommended to print in a closed print chamber to minimize warping

Recommended Use

Bambu Lab PC Transparent is particularly suitable for:

  • Functional Technical Parts – jigs, holders, motor covers, mechanical elements
  • Parts Exposed to Heat – components around electronics, lights, machines
  • Protective and Covering Elements – shields, covers, viewing windows
  • Prototypes and Small Series requiring a combination of strength, toughness, and aesthetics

Not ideal for:

  • Very large open prints without a chamber (risk of warping)
  • Models where ease of printing is the priority (PLA/PETG is more suitable for beginners)

Recommended Print Settings

Specific values may vary slightly depending on the printer and model geometry.

\n

Basic Print Parameters:

  • Nozzle Temperature: 250–270 °C
  • Bed Temperature: 90–110 °C (adhesive layer recommended – PVP/glue stick etc.)
  • Print Speed: up to 300 mm/s (lower speeds recommended for maximum surface quality)

Preparation and Drying of Filament:

  • Drying Before Printing: approx. 80 °C for 8 h (hot air oven / filament dryer)
  • Storage: in a closed container with desiccant, recommended humidity < 20 % RH

Printing Environment:

  • Ideally an enclosed print chamber for uniform ambient temperature around the print
  • Avoid strong drafts and rapid cooling of the model

Mechanical and Thermal Properties (Typical Material Values)

  • Tensile Strength: ~55 MPa
  • Flexural Strength: ~108 MPa
  • Flexural Modulus: ~2310 MPa
  • Impact Strength (Charpy/Izod): ~35 kJ/m²
  • Vicat Softening Point: ~119 °C
  • Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): ~117 °C
  • Density: ~1,20 g/cm³

These values are indicative laboratory data from the manufacturer and serve to provide an idea of material behavior.

Tips for Successful Printing

  • Use a clean and well-degreased bed with a suitable adhesive (PVP, special adhesives for PC).
  • For higher dimensional stability, choose a lower first layer speed and higher bed temperature.
  • For larger parts, use a brim/raft to improve adhesion.
  • Consider turning off or limiting strong part cooling (fan) – excessive cooling can cause warping and cracking.
