Product description

Product Description

Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black is a carbon-filled ASA filament developed specifically for long-term use in demanding outdoor conditions. It builds on classic ASA (resistance to UV radiation, heat, and weather) and adds chopped carbon fibers for significantly higher stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability.

Thanks to reduced warping during printing, ASA-CF is also suitable for larger technical parts that must fit precisely in assemblies – for example, electronics covers, bodywork mounts, garden and camping equipment, or structural elements exposed to sun and rain.

Main Advantages

  • Extreme UV and weather resistance Ideal for applications that will be exposed long-term to sun, rain, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Reinforced stiffness and strength thanks to carbon fibers Compared to regular ASA, the filament offers a significantly higher flexural modulus and better dimensional stability – suitable for load-bearing and functional parts.
  • Significantly reduced warping for larger models Carbon fibers reduce internal stress, so large prints have less tendency to peel off the bed and deform.
  • Matte, technical surface Deep black, matte surface effectively hides layers and minor imperfections. Ideal for technical components, covers, and design parts.
  • High heat resistance With a softening temperature over 100 °C, it is suitable for parts near engines, in vehicle interiors, or other warmer environments where PLA or PETG is not enough.
  • Optimized for Bambu Lab printers The filament is supplied on an original Bambu Lab spool (RFID), allowing for automatic profile loading on compatible Bambu Lab printers.

Recommended Use

Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black is particularly suitable for:

  • outdoor parts (brackets, consoles, grips, garden accessories)
  • covers and protective electronic boxes in the exterior
  • parts in automotive and motorcycle environments (mounts, fillers, structural parts)
  • functional prototypes and small series of technical products
  • structures and fixtures that must hold their shape in heat and sun long-term

Printing Requirements and Recommendations

  • Closed printer is strongly recommended ASA-CF requires a stable ambient temperature – closed FDM printers are ideal. With open printers, the risk of warping increases significantly.
  • Hardened steel nozzle is a must Carbon fibers are abrasive, so it is necessary to use a hardened steel or otherwise reinforced nozzle (0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm). Copper or brass nozzles wear out quickly.
  • Drying the filament before printing For the best surface, strength, and dimensional stability, the manufacturer recommends drying the filament (e.g., 80 °C for approx. 8 hours in a dryer or long-term on a heated bed).
  • Better workspace ventilation Like other ASA/ABS materials, the filament can release odors and fumes during printing. It is recommended to operate the printer in a well-ventilated area or with a filter.

Orientation Printing Parameters

Specific values may vary depending on the printer, model size, and desired quality.

  • Nozzle temperature: approx. 250–280 °C
  • Bed temperature: approx. 80–100 °C (with glue)
  • Recommended printing speed: up to approx. 250 mm/s
  • Fan: reduced or off, depending on model geometry

Material Technical Parameters (Selected Data)

  • Material type: ASA with carbon fiber additive (ASA-CF)
  • Filament diameter: 1.75 mm
  • Fill weight: 1 kg (on spool)
  • Density: approximately 1.02 g/cm³
  • Softening temperature (HDT, 0.45 MPa): approx. 110 °C
  • Vicat softening temperature: approx. 108 °C
  • Flexural strength (XY): approx. 72 MPa
  • Flexural modulus (XY): approx. 3740 MPa
  • Impact strength (XY): approx. 14 kJ/m²

Compatibility

  • Printers: most FDM/FFF printers with 1.75 mm diameter and a closed chamber
  • AMS / filament feeders: compatible with Bambu Lab automatic feeders (must follow manufacturer recommendations for abrasive materials)
  • Print beds: smooth and textured PEI, or other surfaces with a suitable adhesive agent

Who is Bambu Lab ASA-CF Black suitable for

This filament will be appreciated especially by more advanced users and professionals who need:

  • maximum lifespan of parts in the exterior
  • higher stiffness and heat resistance than PLA/PETG offers
  • premium, matte, and technical look without distinct layers

For beginners, ASA-CF may be more demanding on printer setup and environment, but on Bambu Lab printers with preset profiles, the process is significantly simplified.

Key Features:

  • Professional ASA-CF filament with carbon fibers for demanding outdoor use
  • High UV and weather resistance – ideal for long-term use in the exterior
  • Significantly higher stiffness and strength compared to regular ASA, suitable for load-bearing parts
  • Reduced warping and better dimensional stability when printing large models
  • Matte black surface that hides layers and gives parts a technical look
  • Optimized for Bambu Lab printers with RFID profile on original spool
  • Higher heat resistance (HDT around 110 °C) than PLA and most PETG
  • Intended for printing with a hardened steel or otherwise durable nozzle
